Test Pipes
Hello Everyone, I understand this is a topic that seems too redundant and simple to cover, yet I have been having my questions and doubts. For Test pipes on the e9x m3, Are there a big difference between the brands? It would seem counterintuitive that a piece of metal pipe could be different, yet the prices range a whole lot, from the low 300's to close to 550$!!! And those are from reputable brands, there are probably local shops that offer to bend and cut a pipe for like 150$. Any input from members? Clamps, Metal quality, etc any information/comparison would be helpful. Thanks

Short of weld quality they are all the same idea.
I'd go right for a full X pipe. I had AA test pipes before I got my X, and they just make the car really raspy.

I was curious about this as well. Ended up asking a member on here who seems knowledgeable in the exhaust realm and said yeah for the most part its all the same. I bit the bullet and bought a set of used ones off a member here a while back. Also I have yet to see test pipes that cost more than 400 retail...

I would venture to guess that the biggest difference in quality with test pipes is fitment, ja? Not so much performance gain. Metal is metal and they are all the same basic design. Its more about weld quality and fitment.
