ZCP wheels M sticker

Hello,

I have a 2012 E92 with the competition package. The other day my brother noticed that the M stickers where not on my ZCP wheels. I'm the second owner. I bought her with 15k miles in October. I looked at pictures on the threads and saw that other ZCPs have the M sticker. Should I be worried that my wheel are not authentic? They look exactly like the ZCP wheels, except for the missing M sticker. Am I the only one with the missing stickers?
Please the links below for a picture of the m sticker I'm asking about.

The glue that holds them on is not very good. I have replaced several over the years. If fact I just ordered some extras as I recently lost another....

The PO might have taken the stickers off going for a simpler look.

Does the car have other ZCP items like EDC? You may want run the VIN if u have any doubts that it is a ZCP car.

Do you have the indent for the sticker or not even that?

Yes, it has EDC. I bought it from a BMW dealership but I also had my SA confirm its history before I pulled the trigger. She's legit but the missing stickers made me wonder if the wheels were replaced. The weak glue mentioned my Kcarrol sounds plausible.

Cool. Probably just weak glue or purposefully removed. Doubt wheels were replaced as if one was damaged typically only one would be replaced not all four. If the original owner sold all four wheels and traded it in with aftermarket wheels the dealer might have put back to ZCP wheels but also unlikely.

The fact that you don't have stickers doesn't mean that they are fake. On the other hand having them doesn't mean they are real. The wheels could have been replaced, repainted and / or repaired. If the car was sold by a dealer most probably it is CPO and most probably wheels are BMW, not neccessaraly originals. It's really tough to say if those were the original wheels of the car, even though the car is spec with ZCP wheels.

Why don't you just look at the back of them and see if they have the correct marking on them? That would be the simplest thing to do and resolve any doubt.

I've had mine fall off a couple of times. The trick is wipe the indent clean with alcohol and stick the new decal in. They should bond pretty good.

I wondered the same thing when I bought my used 2011 last October and it had no stickers on the (black) ZCP wheels. When I needed to buy a replacement wheel I was able to prove they were BMW by looking on the back (never occurred to me before the rim bent) like dmppdx said. It's pretty obvious once you look at the hub-side of the wheel. The new wheel came with a sticker on and I just peeled it off.

Your rim was probably refinished and repainted. Did your rims have rash when you bought the car used? If not, there's like a 95% chance it was repainted because even the most careful enthusiast drivers get rash at some point from one unavoidable situation or pothole or a blind curb etc. Curb rash isn't acceptable on lease trade ins and they also don't find it acceptable to sell with rash so it's repaired by the dealer in volume.

Any good paint shop can tell you if it was repainted. You can even look yourself to look for overspray, clear coat puddling, a too smooth inner barrel (stock inner barrels are rough to the touch). Also the metallic flake size on stock rims is very tiny as opposed to some other paints that have large flake size.

Just buy replacements and slap them on.

You can get a big bag of them on ebay for dirt cheap. I always have a few replacements around for what have you. They are indistinguishable from OEM, and cost about 1/10th as much.

The adhesive can be a weak point on the reproduction ///M stickers. With a lot of them, if you don't add your own adhesive, they will come flying off within a month or two of the install, even without any water streams directed at them. A clear silicone adhesive/sealant will work.
