In before RPI Dave posts this M4 vs m5 video

Notice the M5 is either on S1 (lowest setting) for the DCT when auto and S2 DCT setting when on manual.

Would S3 DCT setting be significantly faster?

S3 setting in Auto is faster (then S1,S2)because it locates the shift point on higher RPMs to let maximum power be delivered. S3 setting in Manual is also faster (than S1,S2) because it reduces the gear shifting time.
Overall, Sport+ throttle /S3/MDM is the fastest (and still safe) configuration.

Lol! M5 wins based on looks alone. Good find.

M5 driver wasn't particularly good, was he? In auto in a non-aggressive mode instead of using manual and already being in the correct gear and RPM range.

I'm not sure either of those guys got max out of either car. Still.., fun to watch.

I would like to see from a standing start, 30 and 60 mph rolls with runs to 120. I think the M4 would do well against the M5 from a dig and even from a 30 mph roll. I think from 60 mph the M5 would easily take the M4.

That said I've never launched an M4. Plenty of launches on the M5 .

The M4 owner is regular poster on the other side here. I like that its a real world example not a magazine race. This just goes to show that lesser powered cars can win races even though stats may show otherwise (in the real world where cars get jumps). But yes, the M5 is much better looking.
