Opened up engine compartment and this....
Just was out for a little jaunt that ended up with me giving the car a wash and opened up the hood and noticed this: a little puddle of oil.
7300 miles, and the car isn't telling me my oil level is any different or that it needs service any sooner. Obviously I'm going to call service, but any thoughts? Has anyone seen this on their cars?

Yeah it's 99% the oil gasket on the housing. Not a big deal to fix.

Just be sure the two o-rings are replaced every time the filter is and seated within the appropriate place (although I acknolwedge the service was probably performed by the dealer.

Yup....figured something simple, but would expect more from my dealer if it was something that they didn't do correctly.
Just finishing up a quick wax and then I'm heading to service. Thanks

I had a similar leak in My 08 535i. I had tare apart my hole intake system to get to the bolts and replace the broken gasket in the filter housing assembly. It looks like your leak is from the o-ring on the filter bowl cover.

No shit. My old four banger Jeep CJ outperforms it even when pulling a boat because it's an AWD and we all know that RWD can't perform against an AWD in any scenario.
Crap, I took the stupid M out in the rain the other day and the bloody thing burst into flames. It just can't handle it I guess.

Complete truth here. It's the bad boy of BMW paint and destined to be in the thick of trouble.
I wouldn't have it any other way. I knew I forgot something. Oh and the windshield glass that is too thin. And let us not forget the horrendous turbo lag Complete and utter garbage, I say. Car is dropped off at service.....428 sports package loaner :|

Btw, the part about "garbage" was referring to the awful F80 of mine, filled with all the design flaws stated above

These pieces of shit don't even come with a selfie mode for the LEDs, where they rotate inwards to face the cabin for some lighting. Standard equipment on that Alfa Romeo with the queer name.
