Retrofit LCI Idrive controller

Have a 2012 F10 M5 and hoping to retrofit LCI bigger Idrive controller purely for aesthetics as won't be using the additional functionality availed with it

Will be grateful if someone who has done something similar can advise if it's a straight swap and in doing so all previous functions will work successfully and if it's same LCI controller across the F range

Here is a thread where he did the upgrade. In his last post he said if your not interested in the touch pad it's a direct fit and plug and play.

As haven't seen any listed for specifically F10 M5

Based on turners website it fits the following below.

Genuine BMW Controller - Touch
This item fits the following BMW Chassis:
F06,F10,F12,F13,F15

You can install the iDrive Touch controller only if you have NBT navigation system. It's not possible to use it with CIC. In 2012 you can still have CIC navigation. NBT was build from the end of 2012 production year. You will also need iDrive ECU (small black box) to make the touch function work. And don't buy items like this one (from ebay link) which doesn't have bmw sticker with part number. Mostly such parts (without stickers) are from stolen cars.

@ALPINCARS he has no intention to use the touch controller. He only wants to upgrade to the larger knob for aesthetics.

Wondering why I did not go to ebay and look for a ceramic one. Good Price for US$250.

The feel of the Ceramic on the I controller is great. It feels heavy and solid on the turn.

It's listed on eBay off a 640d GC. Listing is ending tomorrow so any advice as to whether it will fit an m5 would be appreciated.

Yes it will fit - This part was superseded to BMW Part 65829350723

This item fits the following BMW Chassis:

Getting the standard Black one for about £75

If I get ceramic and it doesn't work I'll have to take a bigger hit

Looks better and feels better. It will fit as long as you get the right part number.

Unfortunately here in UK we don't have the expertise or recourses of you guys in retrofits and mods hence have to pester you every now and then.. As is obvious dealerships will not give you any conclusive advise apart from advising against it and sorry not possible..won't work etc..etc
