Michelin Pilot Sport AS3 on M4?

I have a buddy wanting to swap out his summer tires during the winter with Pilot Sport A/S3s. Do you guys recommend these tires?

where does he live?

If it snows a lot: no because it's not really a winter tire.
As the name states: all season.

Although I have a winter set mounted, I am thinking of putting these on my car for year-round use here. I don't need summer stickiness; I do need wet and cold traction.

I would think these fine in Seattle, unless the car goes to the mountains in winter. Maybe look for some northern reviews on tirerack?

I'm in central KY, and drive all over the state, including snow and mountains. But I have an X5 (Conti DWS All season) which can get me through up to about 16" of snow on the road.

It seems this tire is better in cold/wet but not so good on snow or ice. The Conti DWS 06 is apparently better in snow and ice, but less sharp in the dry. So, as always preferences and condititions in your driving range determine the best choice for you.

I'd lean more toward the Michelin Premier A/S if you want an all-season. The Pilot Sport A/S 3 won't do well in the snow or ice.

Or a performance winter tire would be a good option too.
