Dinan Upgrade?

I have a stock '15 M5 CP. I'm due to put in some Dinan mods. What's your guys thoughts and experiences with Dinan? Should I? Shouldn't I?

Save your money and get a BMS JB4, BCM and some downpipes.

Okay. Why BMS over Dinan? It's CPO with 11k miles on it.

For me it's the value. BMS products have proven gains over and over again. You can get the JB4 and BCM for under $1000.
If $ is not object and you prefer to have the Dinan backed warranty, that's an option. Dinan stage 1 piggyback starts at $3000. If you want the stage P1 package that starts at $8000.

The new BMS JB4 also allows you to delete the CEL from Catless Downpipes via the module while the Dinan does not. There are more selectable modes with the JB4 too.

What do you mean by selectable modes?

I've looked into BMS outside of some people raving about their prices in comparison to Dinan, I'm not sure. No one has really explained why it's better.

If you don't want to lose you warranty and you don't mind spending the extra $$, go DINAN.

If you don't care for your warranty, go JB4 w/BCM which runs around $1k.

Personally, I went with a flash tune.

I want that warranty, the brakes are wild crazy plus they're ceramic.

I was thinking the piggyback tune, the suspension drop and the exhaust.

Pricey through DINAN but they are great products and again you keep your factory warranty. I drove a Stage 2 Dinan and enjoyed it. Wasn't as torque as BMS but it was a fun drive compared to stock.

Torque feels fun but not as much as looking behind and seeing your opponent with an angry face. lol. "You Mad Bro?"

This is incorrect. The Dinan warranty only mirrors the factory warranty, not CPO. Dinan provides zero warranty during the CPO period.

Really? I'll check on that. Thanks for the info Brad.

But I'm still under the original warranty if I'm correct. I'll check now.

Had Dinan before and very bad experience
Paid 4300$ for nothing on 550i 2012
I used to like Dinan but unless you have his SHOP do it for you in California then you're wasting your money !!

Now I have an ///M and the last thing I would do is let Dinan out his hands on it because I doubt all their numbers sometimes especially after the scandal of using the underrated BMW number to his advantage which is a cheap way to a cheap gain!!!

I doubt you'd notice any difference not even as much as between ZCP and standard while he's claiming in the vicinity of 100 horse power and torque

Idk. I went to Rallye and they did my 550xi and I immediately felt the difference. They took their time on it. But when I got it, it just worked but I feel you on hesitation, especially for the money you're putting up. It sounds like you had a bad experience where you went but that's why I asked them where they suggest I go to do it.

I have an ///M myself now and I feel they did a decent job but it could've been better. They only place I really trust isn't a dealership so I'm split.

But I don't doubt the power DINAN claims. I have a friend that has an E60 M5 and that car is FAST! Over 700hp and dyno'd, so I couldn't fight the proof. It's one of the reasons why I'm considering DINAN yet again.

Good experience vs bad one
I understand but no one can argue that it is overpriced !
And you're just laying several thousands of dollars for peace of mind of same warranty you already have!!! And sowmtimes i wonder if there's a kick back for BMW in that "Mirrored" warranty

But for me I paid 4300$ for well over a year for the big "D" for Delusion because a moron installed my software wrongfully at a BMW dealership and bitter taste is still in my mouth !!

I honestly think about that too but if you consider what they do to make the products, it ain't cheap. But you can't be upset with the warranty. It does help a bunch.

Which dealership though? And I asked to go through everything after they explained everything because I made it rain to get that package. I want to everything about everything and make sure that if I don't like it that I could bring it back and have it altered and fixed to my approval.

not everyone has experienced issues with dinan.

I've had no issues and enjoy the noticeable upgrade

if you have the cash to burn go for it. there are multiple threads in the engine subforum that have compared the two. can't go wrong either way, the car is a beast with either choice
