New here!
hey ladies & gents,
first post here. proud owner of a new (to me) 1M. got her in really good condition-- 5,000 miles, never tracked or driven very hard. came with an AFE intake kit (the one with the two cone filters). picked her up on January 1 (Happy New Year to me!) so only had her a couple of days. several buddies of mine have 1M's, so am fairly familiar with the car. such a fun little thing. am located in the Philippines BTW. cheers! |

Thanks for the welcome!
I've always loved the 1M; have several friends who have the car, and the combination of performance, size, (relative) affordability, and increasingly rare analog charm, make it pretty unique IMO. my charge pipe blew already the other night, during a... "spirited" drive with a friend's A45 AMG. i've got one on order from HPI, but apparently they're on back order. luckily a friend had his stock one lying around, so the car will at least be able to run around while waiting a couple of weeks for the aftermarket one. I'm so tempted to mod the car a bit, but it really is a great package as-is; if anything i'm thinking of Ohlins R&T's to tighten up the composure over lumpy surfaces. this one's a keeper! |

i'm guessing you mean the E30?
my roommate in college had one brand new, and i lusted after that car. when i could finally afford one about 10 years ago, i jumped at the chance. this one is a very very early build: October '86 (IIRC), which i think was the first month of production. it's a German unit, cloth houndstooth seats, wind up windows, no A/C (previous owner had one installed) and of course the dogleg transmission. i hardly get to drive her nowadays; traffic conditions around here are so bad that you really need a comfortable modern car to cope. and i used to track her years ago, but the reality of a family and a kid has largely meant an end to my regular track days (used to be at least 1x/month). not to mention she's too precious now to risk in an accident. here's a self-indulgent beauty shot of the car (had a pro photog take it, not me!) and one from years ago when she wasn't a garage queen! realistically, the 1M is MUCH nicer to drive, 90% of the time! |
