experience going from koni yellows to coilovers? (maybe ST XTA)
so i have had koni yellows and bmw performance spring on for the past year and a half. i also have m3 front control arms, e93 m3 fsb, and whiteline rsfb inserts. last year i managed 7 track weekends and i am shooting for 10 this year. basically i set the konis rears and adjusted them once and have been that way from a week after i had them. the fronts i adjusted a handful of times. its not that i dont like them but it would be nice on track days to firm everything up a little so was thinking coilovers. i am seriously considering ST XTA or the the Standard suspension that Mfactory is selling just so when i get to the track i can tighten everything up a little with ease and still have a daily driver. and the both have camber adjustments. i almost pulled the trigger but then thought, wait its winter here in NY so i have a few months to ask around and get some advice.
So my question is for those who have had koni yellow with some sort of upgraded springs and moved on to coilovers was it night and day? did you regret it? Was the comfort the same? i was thinking of going around 360 front/560ish rear lbs for the springs. any help is appreciated. thanks |

I had koni yellows with swift springs the ride was alright and so was performance. I switched to catuned coilovers last spring. They were a slight improvement over the koni's, but I've since ordered a set of TC Kline's for better performance. IMO it's not worth it buying a cheap set of coilovers unless you are just looking to go low. I can't give a review on the st xta ones but people seem to like them. For the money the koni yellows with swift springs is hard to beat.

Can't comment on the Koni's and Swifts, but the ST-XTA is a true win. I have them and love them. You really can't go wrong.

I have Koni yellows with BMW performance springs, and the front and rear M3 control arm upgrades, and M3 RTABs and upgraded sway bars. I bought the kit for HPA to convert the fronts to 60mm springs and threaded adjusters, and the rear 60mm springs and adjuster also. The upgrade kit arrived a few days ago, so I'll be installing them soon.
