Jutter and stall
Interesting, help appreciated.
On the way home from work on Friday my 06 2.5SI sport began to behave sluggish, the revs just did not want to go up just like diving up a hill in top gear. When I let off the gas the revs just hunted around 300-500 then stall. I stopped, it did the same with popping and when let off the gas it stalled and then the yellow engine light came and stayed on (emissions). It was like having the choke out. The fuel is OK as I have driven 150 miles from a full tank, and the night was quite warm compared to the previous freezing mornings. Its done 18K miles and was booked in last week for a service with 1,000 miles to next service on the clock for 2 weeks time (long waiting times). The oil and lubes have always been topped up, in fact 3 weeks ago I put in a liter of oil in. It was picked up and sent to a local dealer (not the one that the zd is booked in for a service?) and today he says that the problem was due to it needing an oil change, and wants £270 for the privilege, then will look further into the problem. Am I missing something, why would poor performance, engine stall and a cause for the emission light to come on, be due to an oil change that according to the dash is OK for another 1000 (unless the problem has dropped the service interval) or is it that the dealer trying it on. |

Even if it is just an oil change... 270 pounds? Thats about $550! It costs me $90 tops for a dealer oil change!
It definitely does not sound like an oil problem to me.

Really? I thought $89.95 was expensive Is it just because you have an M?
With my other cars I took it to any 3rd party shop and got oil changes for under $25. $17 with a coupon book they hand out at the college. Makes me feel better about paying $90 for an oil change though!

You need to watch these dealers, there is a difference between an oil change and an oil service. The change is just that. The service is change the oil AND check all the fluids, filters, air in tires, wash car and charge out the rear end for it.

Yeah, I am just talking about a change (every 7.5K miles). I take my car in between Oil Service intervals (15K miles) to get the oil changed. I don't know how much a full service would be.
