Unable to lock doors with ignition on since latest flash

Hey Guys,

Had my X5 in for service last week, just crossed over 60k on the odo...there was a recall for computer flash, PCM I believe. Since the re-flash, I'm unable to lock the doors via fob with the engine running. Has anyone else had this issue? The horn just honks twice and the doors remain unlocked. Its really handy when leaving the kids in the car when we run into the store, etc... My dealer has sent a note off to BMW Canada...just waiting to hear back.

stewy604 , I think that is illegal in the US to leave kids unattended in the car up to certain age.
Maybe that's why they disable it. Remember, Canada is part of the US, haha.

I'll re-phrase...lock my Mrs. in the car. Haha. Second rationale is warming up the vehicle on a frosty morning...PITA to sit and wait for the windows to de-ice. Can you guys try yours and see if you're able to?

Garage List
Can your kids or missus lock themselves in the car with the ignition on and no key present?

Ditto. Works fine. My car has never been flashed with updated firmware either if you're collecting data points.

BMW got back to me. CA was told that issues with the flash may clear following several "sleep" cycles on the vehicle. But they agreed that this functionality should still exist. If by tomorrow it's still an issue, I've got to bring it back to be re-flashed and further diagnosed. Not a huge deal, just a pain in the ass and more time out of my day with another trip to the dealer. That said, they did offer to come pick up the vehicle from my work...I politely declined...no lot boy is driving this thing!
