Not happy with HK Sound - alternatives?
Does anyone know if the individual sound can be retro fitted to my HK sound.
I am not a purist audiophile but the HK sound is lacking and I am really looking for options to get a the sound fuller, richer and warmer. any input would be good Best MB |

LOL, "fuller, richer, warmer" is a tall order, and will not be fulfilled by Individual Audio drivers. In fact, I'd venture a guess that the sound will be marginally better, if at all. But yes, they should physically fit into the locations.

I have the individual audio system in my e92, love it.
I don't have enough listening experience on the f8x HK system to comment on the differences... I'd be curious to hear the comments from folks who have it in going from the e9x individual to the f8x HK. |

I can't remember what they called the upgraded audio in the E9xM3 in the US, was it really "Individual"? Regardless, I had it in my E92 M3, and have the HK now. One is not appreciably better than the other. I think the E92 had better bass, but the F80 has better soundstage and midrange.

Bavsound is the way to go if you want reasonably affordable upgraded speakers that address the harshness of the HK. The HK tweeters in particular are dreadful. Way too bright.

OP, what settings have you tried on the EQ
I thought the HK stereo sounded better after using some of the EQ settings I found on these forums, as compared to the stock / flat EQ settings. Full disclosure, I use streaming music from youtube and pandora as my primary sources and am only listening to audio 50% of the time anyway (i.e. I'm not an audiophile). I also have the active sound coded off, and I thought the HK stereo sounded better after I did that |

Check out post #77 (thank you again Lincoln30!!) I started off with Lincoln30's setting #1 but personally less of a "flat" sound and a bit more bass, so I put "bass" to be +2, 100hz to +3 and 200hz to +1 |

#4 setting from this post is damn near perfect http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...8&postcount=77
Lincoln30 says it's still a tad bright with these settings and I agree. Pull down 5kHz and 10kHz one more notch and that's the spot-on balance for a real high end system. |
