brake pad service indicator reset

My brake pad service indicator lights came on 2 weeks ago. I have installed new brake pad sensor and went through the reset procedure. It will not reset. I have tried everything, by cutting old sensor and joining the wires together, installing new sensor and so on. It the mileage still shows "-------" and cannot get it to reset. I have the AA tune, and taking it to the dealer to have it reprogram the ECU is not an option. Is there any other method to do that. Has anyone one tried coding it to get rid of the sensor. Who needs a reminder to change their brake pads anyway.
