whos using a catch can? oil blowby?
I am using a burger motorsports catch can, installed during the last oil change. Today while doing an oil change, the first and 4000k miles since the install, I checked and there was zero oil in the can. This means Its either installed wrong, or my motor is just super healthy. Having had many turbo cars with a catch can, This is the 1st time there was no oil in the can. What are you guys seeing in yours?

I installed one 3 months ago, been driven for 10k miles and I didn't have any oil either. I had some water from condensation, but no oil. I'm also N55.
On a second note, post pics of the install so we can rule that part out.

The car is buttoned back up already. I'm fairly confident that the install is correct (i am a auto tech so if not it would be quite embarrassing ), but of course I am not perfect .

Maybe you just have a healthy engine with minimal blow by and turbo seals! Sounds like you have a winner for a 1M!

Apparently, you're not getting any vapor flow through it so I would be quite concerned. I had one on my previous 1M and it did catch oil.

I'm also having the same experience after about 5K miles with a Burger can, but it's been cool/cold weather since it was installed, and I haven't really wound the car up to high RPM much as a result. Also, the car is just going on 9K miles, after being a garage queen for four years.
If the can is still dry this summer, I'll be surprised. |

Not trying to thread jack here, but is it normal for the catch can to be half full of clear water after 7k miles? I was told yes, given the humidity in Florida.

What are your driving habits like? Flow through the BMS OCC is mainly when under boost, at low load or cruising under vacuum the PCV is routed through the valve cover into ports by the intake valves, bypassing the the OCC.
Adding something like the RB external PCV/dual OCC adapter kit will account for the vacuum side of things, you'd see a lot more caught stuff then. fwiw I have the BMS OCC on my 1M and it has caught a few ounces of oil, but took maybe 50k miles of mixed driving to get to that amount.
