Tire Shop Damaged My Rims
I took my M3 in to get my winter tires switched over summer tires. I picked the car up and it was dark outside so the rims looked fine. When I got home and examined them closely they were scratched up pretty bad. Looks like curb rash or worse in certain areas.
I called the shop and brought it back. They acknowledged the did the damage and want to have them refinished. They said I would have to leave the car overnight, they would take the rims off and send them out to get repaired. I told them I want new rims. Am I being unreasonable? Will getting them refinished make them look brand new? They ended up refunding me for the tire service and wrote on the invoice they will refinish wheel at no charge to customer. Prior to taking the car in all the rims were perfect, not a defect on them. I used my phone to record all four rims in case something like this happened. I also have a dash cam front and rear, recording me doing this and it is time stamped. |

Very unlikely that will agree to getting new rims for you. Is this a local tire shop or a larger chain? Unfortunately, there is not much you can do. This is the reason why having one set of rims for both summer and winter tires isn't a good idea.

It's a large chain. They said if I wasn't happy with the refinish they would order me new rims. I just don't want to waste time and want to get new rims off the bat.

I got a brand new rim from a local shop without even asking for it. Car was 2 days old and I was swapping runlets. It's all about the manager, I guess.

What happened to your rim(s)? Did they order the rim for you and do all the work or did they reimburse you to get it replaced on your own.

Few months ago, i took my car to Discount Tire to swap out a tire and of course they scratched my rim. Talked to the manager and he said they would re finish it. I said hell no because they will never be able to match the factory finish so he said no problem, ordered me a new rim from the dealer.
I let them mount the new rim and this time a perfect job, no scratches. I was like, why in the hell couldn't they do it right the first time?!? |

The problem is not the silver rims. It is the tinted clear coat on the black rims.

One of my biggest concerns is getting tyres done. Thing that pisses me off is even when you go to the effort of ensuring they take care, they can still mess up.
I have a guy that is ex spray painter and is mobile. Comes out onsite and spot repairs and you could never tell the difference. Maybe look and see if there is something similar. Done my CSL wheels multiple times and the blend is superb! |

I was swapping runlets for non-runflats right after I got the car. Manager walks up to me and apologetically explains that they scrapped the crap out of one wheel while mounting the tire. And not to worry, she just ordered a brand new 197 style wheel from BMW. Came the next day and they put the wheel on. Best customer service ever. I wrote a letter to their corporate office and praised the manager.

One of my 513M wheels was scratched at Discount Tire. Probably 2-3 in on the outer edge. The manager offered a new rim vs refinish. I felt bad at making them spend $700 so I agreed with refinish. They called me back when the wheel was ready and it looked 100% like new.
