Not to be a bummer

but please let's drive a lil bit slower guys, not trying to preach or anything because I'm probably one of the very bad ones with 300hp under my foot, but I lost a friend's brother earlier this week

Old Pepsi Slogan..."Be Young, Have Fun, Drink Pepsi"...just don't hit our trucks!

Sounds like your friend's brother was driving too fast and at 12:30AM on a Sunday morning is prime time for intoxicated driving.

Some people don't need to slow down...they need to stop being stupid and we all know that ain't gonna happen (unless Darwin intervenes).

Perhaps I would be more sympathetic if he's the passenger...but people die every day and in all kinds of unfair ways. I'm sure you guys don't want to hear a rant on how a close friend of mine died of cancer last year.

Sorry about your loss. Speaking of old slogans: "With great power comes great responsability." That old Spiderman quote applies to cars and drivers. With ever increasing power the margin of error is inversely reduced. People need to understand they are not Supermen and have to behave responsibly otherwise they make the headlines in a not very pleasant way.

This hit home for me after my wife was slammed off the road by some stupid bimbo doing close to 100 on the freeway and weaving in and out of traffic. Destroyed an almost new car and i'm out about a lot of time and still trying to get the last of my money out of things. Yes my car was totaled and paid off, then I had to go get a new car.

You've got to be either very drunk or very stupid to hit a parked truck at a speed high enough to kill like that--especially in modern car w/ airbags etc.

Its pretty clear who is at fault here. Not like the truck jumped out or crossed a double yellow.

Completely faahcked that the passenger with 4 daughters and twins on the way got killed as a result. Certainly no sympathy for the driver here!!!

I agree with creator. No sympathy for the driver. It was an 08 so he couldn't have had it for long, he couldn't have even been used to the car yet, let alone comfortable with it at its limits. I feel bad for the family of the passenger and the passenger himself though.

I don't know if I feel sorry the driver. It all depends if he respected the 1200 mile break-in period or not on his brand new '08.

Well, it's winter, looks like the summer tires are still on and the guy hasn't owned the car that long. Add to that, in an impact with the back of a truck or trailer most of the force is transmitted to the occupants since the front of the car cannot absorb much energy (those truck 'bumpers' are a joke in most cases). It would not take a great deal of speed to wedge the car under the truck and do that kind of damage. This COULD be a case of someone loosing control under fairly innocent circumstances.

If you search around here there have been mny postings about people hitting trees and other cars at 40+mph or rolling their Zeds and walking away with scratches.

He was probably doing 50+.
