No 2000km/1200m check

Hi can you help me out? I just bought a Z4 M Coupe MY07 that has 10000 km or roughly 6000 miles on it. Just found out yesterday the previous owner never had the initial 1200 mile check done. The dealer is going to carry it out next week, is that sufficient or could there be any damages to the car already because of this?

Thx in advance

From my understanding the fluids they use prior to the intial check up is different from those that they use after as they are break-in fluids.

Hoping the M owners can chime in here cuz I'm not too sure about it.

Yes that is my understanding also and Iīm just wondering if that is something that might have consequences later on because it was not done at the right time

I was told by the dealer I bought mine from that the car couldn't be CPO'd if I didn't have the break-in service done by 2000 miles at the latest. 'Course, now I hear BMW won't CPO any of the M-division cars anymore anyway, but that's what I heard at the time.

A lot of it depends on how the car was treated. I think you will be ok. If you are really freaked out ask them to take a sample of each for you and send it all to Blackstone labs for analysis.

I agree...the main purpose of the break-in service is to change out diff and engine oils to ensure that the fluids are free of metal before you hurt the car.

Thankīs, I think the problem might have to do with the rarity of the car in Iceland, the dealer just isnīt used to servicing alot of M cars. Its actually the only Z4 M coupe around...

That's awesome though! I love the relative rareness of the car. I did just see a TiAg Z4 coupe near me the other day. Only the 2nd Z4 coupe of any sort I've seen on the road.

Factory installed fluids (Engine oil, differential and transmission) are exactly the same as those that should be installed at the 1200 mile service. Same-o, same-o.
