Here it is, still all wrapped
Hey guys,
My M4 finally arrived at the dealership Monday, May 9th. I went there quickly to take a couple of pictures yesterday. I will take possession of the car Friday PM, finally! The pictures are not very good and the car looks a bit weird with all the factory wrapping and the blocks they insert in the suspension for transport... Yes, 2 months passed quickly now that I am at my destination
Next steps after delivery are: - The whole front of the car with Suntek film - Tinted windows (not sure yet how much tint %. Quebec has strict laws as some of you know...) - Seal the whole car with CQ Finest - Seal the leather seats and leather dash with CQ leather product (forgot the exact name) I am eager to start coding also, that will be a blast apart from driving it of course. |

So you'll be the odd one out doing Suntek Why did you decide on it vs XPEL? Btw, a friendly advice do the rocker panels too. I wanted to tint, but it's different in the front compared with the sides and rear so it doesn't look homogenous... I forgot the %. I decided not to do CQ finest because after all said and done I can have my car polished threes time for the price of a CQF! If you need help with coding, reach out and I'll gladly help!

Thanks Aboulfad, for sure I will take your offer on the coding, at least at first.
Why Suntek? Well that's what Nico from MTL Auto Detail is installing and I wanted everything to be done without going at 5 different places. He will do everything and will keep my car for a good 5 days he says. My only worry with the Suntek, or with any other film for that matter is risk of it showing if cut or installed improperly... Hard to know before it's done... Since I don't have personal experience with PF, it doesn't make a difference to me really. Doing searches on the Internet and even here there are pros and cons for all of them and different preferences. It's going to be a big chunk of $$ to do all this and my experience with these products will tell me if it will be worth doing it again in the future. Maybe I will find it's not worth it, I don't know... |

5 days !!! Wow is he taking it on a trip so far my Xpel is still looking like when first installed but w few small chips from rock chips in it which would have been in the paint instead. You can only see them really up close when detailing.
I think your car will look stunning w all this treatment. Be safe! |

So, first impressions? This afternoon was crappy but it cleared up! Post some unwrapped pics before after the Nico treatment unless you took it straight to him?

Congratulations. The car looks very nice. I didn't any mods to my car, even for the clear bra I was not really decided to install it, finally I did not. With my previous E92 car after 9 years, I had only 3 or 4 rock chips on the front of the car after 136 000 km. One of my friend had a small scratch on his bumper and had to remove all the clear bra to be able to repaint...

Hi!
So I left the dealer at about 3:30, was awful outside (rain) so the car didn't stay clean more than 1 minute... That's ok, I wanted a black car... There were some micro scratches in the cleat coat on the front just left of the BMW emblem. I went backstage in the garage with the car and one of their detailing guys fixed it on the spot. Everything else was ok. I fiddled around in the parking lot, setting my stuff and left. After about 30 seconds I was stuck in dead stop traffic for 45 minutes until I reached home. This gave me the opportunity to explore all the buttons and settings while waiting. After that I went for a 1.5 hours drive through the back roads and could slowly open it more and see its potential. First impression is that this is a great car, no doubt, but I am disappointed in the sound it makes I'm afraid. I much preferred the sound my 2008 335i was making as it was a much lower rumble, which I like. The sound of the M4 is hard to describe, I just find it weird, not what I was expecting but it might grow on me, maybe not... Sport and Sport + makes it a little better but still not what I am looking for. I kind of hoped that everyone complaining about the sound of the M3/M4 were wrong but I'm afraid they were right. I'm not sure about the ASD because I can't seem to hear it since the noise seem to be solely coming from the back of the car. The car is easy to drive and I knew right away that it wants to be driven fast. I did a few good go and it's quite fun. Pretty much the kind of power I was expecting so it didn't surprise me. If you want it to be smooth, it can be by carefully modulating the throttle even in the meanest setting (Sport+ all the way). I like the change of feel between the different settings. I've noticed somewhat of a strange sound that only me can hear it seems... It's some kind of a very faint, but cyclic, high pitch frequency every 4 or 5 seconds. To me it sounds like the very high frequency of music when the volume is at its minimum but there was nothing playing on the sound system. Weird. The Active suspension is better than I thought and I like it. DCT is great but I wonder why it has 7 speeds... I didn't feel I needed to go above 4-5th. I did go to 7th on the highway just to try it and almost straight away backed down to 5th. The HK system is fine for my ears and is similar in sound to my old 335 and X3. The extended leather dash + doors and the Silverstone leather seats are stunning. It really lightens up the interior. I don't regret my choice. The stitching of the leather on the dash and doors is white so it makes a very nice contrast that I wasn't expecting. The HUD is great! I love this feature. I like that the blind spot system and the lane change warning is not over reacting all the time. It's subtle and non intrusive contrary to other systems I've tried. Seats are nice looking but I think they are softer than other BMWs I had in the past, we'll see on this one. So yeah, this is it so far. Only did 100km so the car is still settling and also settling for my driving style with all the adaptions I hear it does. Will test more tomorrow for sure. Will post pictures soon. Cheers. Congrats! And you'll notice with time if you keep your stock exhaust that the sound improves with time. I am very content w the exhaust/engine sound. If not, grab $5k and drop the MPE in

+1 The stock sound is great, and with my sunroof open, driving inside tunnels is awesome with the noise of the exaust!
