Which Color?!?!
Need some help here...
I'm ordering an X5M this week...have it spec'd out, but I just can't decide on the d*mn color!!! I'm coming from a Mineral White on Sakhir M4, which is my favorite combo; however, my wife has Mineral White on Mocha X5, so I really don't want matching cars. I like both the LBB & MB Red, but I'm afraid that it'll be too loud for visiting clients. Plus, this is a "family car" so I was going to tone it down. Regardless of the color, any enthusiast will spot the car, but everyone else would be none the wiser if it's a "normal" color combo. Of the two, I favor MB Red on Silverstone, but I'm also concerned with the interior color due to our baby. Any feedback on light interiors with kids? Bad news? I've seen pics of the DG on M Red, but it just doesn't wow me. Final option is Black on Red, but my concern here is that with black, you lose the look of the lines and fascia since it all blends together.... Decisions...decision. All feedback/opinions appreciated.

I'm in the same boat... preparing to order mine as soon as 2017 Pricing/Order Guides are released (hopefully next week).
I've gone round and round on color. Like you, I've always been partial to white... my current Alpine White '13 X5 follows two AW M3s. But I want to do something "different" with this one. I like LBB and initially thought that was the way to go but had the same concerns as you regarding clients, etc. I like Silverstone interior, but I decided it wasn't going to work as I have 4 little kids... often hauling them to school, soccer, etc. I read quite a bit and determined that it would just be too high maintenance. At the risk of offending any owners of a black F85 here, I 100% agree that black does not show the lines as well as some of the lighter or metallic colors. Plus, black is a b**** to keep clean. I also had a Jet Black M3... never again. I'm leaning towards DG with MR, so we are in different camps there. Also considered DG with Aragon. I think color combo is a very personal choice... But pick something that will be "practical" for business, etc. and will be durable with the family. Lots of good options... probably can't go wrong. Good luck! |

I just went through the same thing.
Currently have a MW F15 X5 with Mocha interior and i wanted my X5M to be different. Narrowed it down to MR, LBB and MW again. No offense to those that have these colors as this is just my personal opinion on them LBB is too teal for me. Looks great in edited pics but after seeing one in the flesh I knew it wasn't the color for me. I like BMW blues and LBB is like half blue and half green depending on lighting. Works much better on the M2. Melbourne Red - I couldn't do it without seeing one in person. It looks great in some pic and so so in others. I typically like darker reds and MR looks a tad too orange for me. I also really want the red interior over any other color and going red/red combo is sorta strange to me. Ended up with Mineral white again simply because i'm partial to white cars and white with red combo is just classic. You can't go wrong with that color theme. If the dealer had a MR in stock for me to see i could have easily went with that color as well. Alan

I was in no way trying to offend anyone that picked those colors, and was more so hoping for someone with those color to dispel my concerns.
I actually revisited the DG after the original post, and ended up throwing it back in the mix for a bit. However, after a great deal of hemming and hawing, I drove to the dealer and narrowed it down to Melbourne on Silverstone or BSM on Red. My thought process was identical to Alan's....I loved the Melbourne, but without seeing one in person, I couldn't pull the trigger. And, I'm just too partial to red interiors. Final Answer: Black Sapphire Metallic on Red! I'm going to black out the grilles and get the rims powder coated. I 100% agree with your sentiments, Indy re: black. I've had two BSM's in the past, so I know d*mn well what I'm getting into, and I'll probably be angry at myself later. But that "5 minutes of sparkle" after it's been washed makes it all worth the headaches. Now, all I need is my production number!

I have MR and all my clients have loved the color. I was going to get LBB on Red, but someone here has one on an X6M, so I passed. I've seen three LBB X5M's, and one silverstone, one white, many DG, but no MR so far.

I really like our alpine/Aragon, but if I had a do-over I'd go mr on Aragon

Had the same issue.
I usually only get white cars. I went bold this time, and it attracts a bit of attention. the good: deep, beautiful color. looks gorgeous the bad: attracts quite a lot of attention, in fact, im going to tint it darker than my other cars.... and get a new wardrobe to look the part. Here is old garage pre lbb x5m: Here is the new car:

Here are pics of mineral white x5m's i saved while stalking dealerships.
If you do go white, get it with the silverstone interior! edit: i see you are going black? after owning a few black cars, i would never get that color again. lol. too hot for socal and too hard to keep clean.

I say if you go white, get the smoked white interior. You door panels, dash (part) and the center console are white that way. You can get the roof liner in white alcantara as well. That's what I got. Picked mine up last week and I love it!!

"white on white that's fu**in' Ross " That is BOSS... But in my opinion, it needs some other color to break the white on the outside... there was a Velos picture of white with Gold rims and it looks amazing...I am not fan of gold rims but when i saw the picture... i was stunned.. the idea is to break the white... Good luck
I have a Long beach blue with red interior and i love the combo. |

I have kids and Ivory Inteior on my Range Rover. It's really not a problem, especially with back carpeting. We ordered our X5 M with LBB and silverstone Inteior. If I had to meet clients I would do Carbon Black with full leather Silverstone, personally. Carbon Black is very similar to Range Rovers Mariana Black, which is black with blue metallic. It's stunning.
That mineral white with silverstone though.. Oh my! Might have to change my order |

Post photos, man! I second zero's vote. I love my smoke white interior. People comment and think that it looks really beautiful (and is a perfect match with the CF). It also adds a warmth whereas the silverstone is decidedly cooler. Your call but you won't be disappointed. |

I'm not a big fan of some of the non-black, colored interiors out there, but that is a sharp color combo and one of the few I would consider. |
