F85/F86 from stock or ordered?
Given the fact that F85/86 are kind of particular machines, just wondering among all the F85/F86 owners, how many ordered its car and how many had luck to have the car on stock at the dealer when buying?
Also if ordered, the average time that took its delivery, do they met on promised delivery schedule? |

I ordered my LBB/Black F85 from the factory on May 9th this year and was told it would take 4-6 weeks to be delivered. I got really lucky and mine actually went into production 2 days later on the 11th. 13 days later it arrived at my dealer in Texas! So a total of 16 days from ordering to driving off the lot. I would have had it on the 24th, but I had them do the wheel bearing fix and tint the windows before I took delivery.

Ordered my CB over Aragon in August and arrived in Sept. Was the first 2016 model at my dealership. They liked the car so much, they ordered a second exactly the same and sold it within days of it hitting the lot.

I've always ordered, with the exception of my current. After being underwhelmed with the '16 F16 I ordered, I found a '16 F86 on the lot, test drove it and pulled the trigger. I couldn't bear driving the F16 any longer waiting for a build.
You should be able to get exactly what you want, especially at this price point. I say order. Normal turnaround time for me has been about 3-4 weeks from order to delivery. Obviously dealer needs to have an allocation he can change to your specs for such a short wait. |

I've ordered my BMWs in the past but needed to move from my M5 for the AWD and was lucky enough to find a X5M with the colors and options close to what I would have ordered. Ended up with night vision, which I have never used beyond the demonstration on pick-up but otherwise love the SAV.
Unless you can get a killer deal on something in the right colors, I would order. |

I used the configuration tool to figure out the color and options desired. I checked the independent websites and found an exact match on autotrader. While I did have to pay to have the vehicle shipped 1600 miles, I was able to get the build I wanted at a great price, and without the wait!

I placed my order in late September and had the car by December -- 2016 X5 M. I did Individual with paint/interior (azurite black/smoke white). Eight weeks from order to completed production in mid-November. I picked the car up at the Performance Center two weeks later.
I got all the options except night vision and parking assistant. Only one I have yet to use is smartphone integration; the rest have been worth it. |

Is there an issue with night vision? It seems like a good option to have but reading these posts makes me question it's value.

My opinion is that night vision works but having it in the center dash makes it much less useful. I also live in an urban area where it is just not as needed.

In most other countries, night vision is way better, as the fog lights are replaced with swiveling spotlights that shine a beam of light on what is detected by the system, so one does not need to rely solely on the iDrive display to utilize the feature. The US DOT doesn't allow BMW to offer that in our country.
