M1 vs M2 Exhaust note

Is there any difference between these two settings as far as the exhaust valves and how they interact?

I would argue it does as M1 and M2 mean nothing other than they are programmable buttons. Dependent on how you have them set, it could be different as the valves may open sooner in sport or sport+ (if its similar to the F10 M5). If you have M1 as efficient and M2 as Sport+ I would think it makes a difference.

Is there a guide anywhere that talks about what exactly controls the exhaust valves from opening and closing?

Mine are either open or closed. No partial. F10 could be different but the F85 is either open or closed. There is no part throttle part open or delayed opening.

Thanks guys.

I couldn't really tell a difference, but my hearing isn't what it used to be. It seems in Econo mode they may partially open at half throttle or so?

Either way, its pretty dang loud in M mode for messing around town. The big chrome tips and big sound are almost yelling "custom" for the onlookers that don't know its factory. Its a unique sound, but still a little raspy coming from a 50i
