Dilemma: Wait for e92 M3 or get M5?
My dilemma grows daily as my e92 M3 order from January sits in limbo. Dealer keeps telling me same thing- no info yet. Problem is my current lease is up in 3 weeks- cant extend it another miniute as per mfr.
So, do I place an order for a 2008 M5 which I can get in guaranteed 6 weeks flat,,,, or wait for my M3 with DCT. If I wait for the M3, I may get stuck renting a some piece of shit taurus from Enterprise for months and months. Second problem is if the M3 winds up coming in around July,,, I really think BMW screwed all of us as the 09's will be out 2/3 months later... Any suggestions? What would any of you choose? (assuming money is not the issue as I know the M5 is much pricier, but that is not a prob)....

If you can't decide between an M5 and an M3 I think you really need to do some more thought about what car you really want (even give the specifics of your case).
If you want the M3 wait for it. If you don't have a production number from your dealer drop him like a rock, you can go buy a new one off a lot or find a dealer who will order what you want immediately likely at MSRP, you will simply have to go out of state. No one can decide this for you. |

Huge difference between the two, price wise and size. Not to mention one is a coupe and the other is a four door. Check other dealers, especially in Long Island where there's a lot of BMW dealers. Personally, i always prefer a coupe. But if you have a family, then a coupe is really not ideal. Between the M3 coupe and the M5, i'd go with the M3 coupe. Looks nicer, cheaper, and almost as fast as the M5 with probably better handling.

+1 what others said.
The only thing the two cars have in common is an M badge. Are you just buying a badge? If not, get the car that you want. If so, then I guess just buy the first available car with an M on the decklid. Even in that case though, since you state that money is definitely no problem, then the most logical alternate to an E92 M3 is an M6, not an M5. |

Go to another dealer. Your dealer doesn't seem to care about your order.
Do they know about your M3 vs M5 dilemma and are trying to influence your decision toward the pricier M5?
