Dinan Stage I Installation/Labor Cost?
I'll be taking delivery of my '17 F85 in late August, and I'm considering having the dealer install a Dinan Stage 1 at (or soon after) delivery. Couple of quick questions on cost:
- Has anyone successfully negotiated a price lower than MSRP on Dinan components from their dealer? If yes, what type of discount did you get? (I know Dinan sometimes has sales, but there is not one at this time.) - What is a standard or "fair" labor charge for the installation of the Stage I tune? I might consider the exhaust also, but the reviews I read didn't make it sound like a "must have". I searched but didn't find anything too relevant on the cost/labor, so any help would be appreciated! |

I read the instructions and it looked fairly easy to install. You do need a scan tool to reset the check engine light from battery being disconnected, etc.. After calling my local dinan dealer (bmw performance shop here in town) they told me it was only 1.5-2 hours labor and would be cheap to install. I figured why not just have them do it. It was like $150-160 or something like that. Honestly, the water proof wiring covers, extra weather stripping and stuff like that took up most of the time during the install.

I researched this issue and found out that Dinan almost never has any promotions or discounts. List price is $3089. I called several shops in Massachusetts and no one agreed to give a discount. One shop offered to install for free - no charge for labor.

I had the invoice in front of me and stupidly didn't write it down like I meant to. I believe the total was $3100 ish installed. Install takes literally 30 mins.

Anyone have the installation instructions? I typically prefer to install everything myself.
Actually, never mind - I found it on their site. Last edited by QuickOne; 07-17-2016 at 08:36 AM.. Reason: I suck at internet |

What are the thoughts on installing a Stage 1 tune on a brand new car vs. waiting until you're through the 1200 mile break in period? Any advantage or disadvantage either way?
