It's finished because all the imperfections are gone
Seats are not really necessary but would be nice to have some Not going out of my way to get them |

Just started tuning her for straight Bp ultimate and she made 314rwk
Need to get trebila and jd75 to have a good look at logs and see if there is any room for improvement Car feels very smooth and power delivery is very nice So I have two tunes now for her but definitely sticking to 98 for the road and e85 for track Have to give her a nice bath on the weekend and get my camera gear out to do a photo shoot and post some more pics up |

Looks frickin amazing. Mind giving us a rough idea of what it cost, so we can all confirm that we will never do it?

So it looks like the gearbox has had enough and retired to the good place in the sky.
So time to source a replacement Looking at a few sequential replacements but the suppliers aren't in a hurry to get back to me. If someone is in the market for a 1m pay careful attention how it changes from 1st to 2nd if it grinds or whines after 10 min of driving walk away. Its most likely the gearbox is going to let go in the near future. Some blokes had their boxes replaced 2, 3 or 4 times. The early zf boxes aren't up to the task http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1008811 A replacement trade is around 8.5k from bmw Australia and from the US its 3.2k Way to go BMW the Australian public getting bent over and reamed by you again So the 1M is back up on the hoist and ready for a transplant. Who will come to the party is still unknown. |

I know a mate with an N55 whose manual transmission died as well and needed a rebuild. I think he lost 1st gear. I haven't really heard of any early N54 transmission failures but I guess the newer ones might have issues. That post you linked is from 2addicts so all the failures I've heard of now seem to be the N55 manual transmissions.
From a quick look at realOEM all 135/335i N54 models use a GS6-53BZ transmission and all of the past and current N55 models and 1Ms use a GS6-45BZ transmission. Maybe you should find a used GS6-53BZ transmission. Might be cheaper to buy, although you will need to get your prop shaft customised.
