What R It? Have Picture Now

There is a small butterfly shaped platform with 2 studs sticking up on it, on the passanger side of the vehicle, under the hood, towards the fire wall on/or right by the rear part of the wheel well. Looks like something should be on it. Anyone know what it is?

Uhh... sounds like you're describing the strut tower. Did you notice the same thing on the other side? That's where your suspension mounts to, but it mounts underneath. You can also get a strut tower bar, which installs between the two.

If its the plastic port thing on the passenger side firewall, we call that the "porcupine". I don't know the official term (or purpose) of it, but its a good place to route wires for any little projects you might have.

No pictures, not smart enought to post them, but I guess I should learn. The thing is not plastic or a strut tower. It is about the size of a saucer for a cup of coffee.

Sounds like the strut tower mount, it should have 3 nuts on the studs as well. If not you need to get some ASAP but if there is nuts then you're fine.

On my M Coupe that is where the "Emissions Control - Air Pump" lives.
I don't see a similar animal listed for the 3.0si engine.

Hm wow, surprised I've never noticed that. No idea what goes there, but I'm guessing they just have it there from the Z4M
