Chris Harris Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio review vs F80 M3

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
He compares it to the M3. Any guess to which car he thinks is better?

Thing that surprised me was if you turned off the dsc in the alfa, and if the abs intervenes, the dsc turns back on.

Excellent review, classic Chris now top gear!

If you buy a performance car based upon the interior, you're nuts anyway. -CH
Let that statement sink in, people.

On another note, it's a shame he didn't care for the rubbery shifter and clutch feel. The other option is the ZF8, a not-too-bad automatic, but automatic nonetheless.

Good review, as usual. Thanks for posting.

I cringe at the thought of longer term reliability for the Alfa...but maybe this car will prove me wrong!!

M wake up call v 2.0

The Mercedes AMG revolution was the first, this is the second. BMW M need to really work thier game for future products to stay ahead and be the leaders they were 10 years ago. The new cars have dynamics as well as style, drama (noise) and people paying a premuim expect something special.

The M2 tackles everything but the flashy interior aspect and hopefully the future offerings will leap ahead of what is out there now.

Am I the only one with this feeling: he kept talking the whole time but didn't actually say much.

We definitely need some following instrumental tests.

In summary, I heard the Alfa was ~10% faster but the M3 was dynamically better.

Right I heard that too.

I wished he say more about that Ferrari tuned 2.9T. Is it using a laggy big turbo to get 512hp, things like that. But no, nothing, apparently he paid less interest to that 177hp/litre thing than I thought.

Thing is the competition has gotten better all around. Remember when the Nissan GTR originally came out how much faster it was to basically every car on the road? Compared to the newer sports cars out now, it doesn't have the advantage it used to.

BMW used to have a much bigger advantage over the competition, but now manufacturers that you never would have considered in the past are creeping up to the BMW M.

But this is all a good thing. It just means that they are motivating BMW to push the envelope even more.

erm...did you watch the video? no, he didn't give raw numbers, but I think the point of the video was to convey Chris' subjective impressions of the car vis-a-vis its main competitors - primarily the M3. I thought he answered nearly all of the questions I had about the car...AND we got to see Chris hooning through a bunch of corners while at it.

Chris' daily driver is an F80 M3. That pretty much says everything we need to know.

I think he just sold the Java Green F80 he was in. Or perhaps it was given to him by BMW and he was just time to give it back?

A minor imperfection with your post. No harm, no foul.

I believe Alfa wanted to create a TTV6 with more of a "naturally aspirated" behavior. Means, low torque in the bottom, and let it peak as the revs count in. Interestingly, the 488GTB/GTS uses the same approach (check his 488 review).
