Dinan dct software with ess 625 kit

It's been a few days since my 625 kit when in just wondering if any of u guys are running the same setup. Dinan dct tune and ess 625 kit. Noticing hard down shifting from 4th to 3rd. Not a smooth transition as before. Not sure if the tune is still adapting to the ecu. Also notice when idling rpm fluctuates.

I'm running the dct GTS software with my kit, it's the same for me. are you running a ESS tune? you might want to go for a custom tune

not sure I was told you can use any tune for dct but I could be wrong. I emailed ess hopefully get some answer's

I am not sure about that. When i was looking through post. Many recommended to go for the 'custom' tune rather than the ESS tune. The ESS software is very aggressive, like as if you had a Sprint Booster on your car.

I believe the transmission module is different so I don't think it would overwrite that?

You can of course ask ESS for fully linear throttle mapping

Why someone would get a tune by a third party when ESS has sold thousands of these systems and has proven to be the most reliable system?

My friend has a 550 kit with a ESS tune. The mapping they provide is way too harsh. After driving his car, you can't drive it on low end RPMs. It's not a comfortable drive.

Maybe Mike Benvo from BPM can advise on the difference between a custom or ESS tunes. I can't explain but its a more comfortable ride.

Again, your friend simply has to ask ESS for linear throttle mapping

ESS has two DCT tunes and one of them is specifically for the supercharged cars. However, if your car has newish DCT software from BMW it works fine, so your DCT software which is a GTS clone of some kind should also work.

I've driven a couple ESS supercharged cars and they both felt exactly like stock just with tons more power. No buckling or strange issues.

I would leave the dinan dct software alone and first ask ess for linear throttle mapping.

How long have you had the car supercharged?

Hey thanks for the reply. I haven't even done a tank of gas. Super charger has been in the car for a week. Bought it used with 5000km. Drove it today and it's still doing it. I may flash the dct to stock and see if it fixes my issue. Another thing I can do is get the gts dct software.

I see. I'd give it more time to adapt and shift it manually so it's more predictable. Still, I think your current (dct) software should work just fine.

Regardless of whether it adapts and stops the buckling I would still ask ess for the linear throttle map. With so much power it'll help you be smooth and dosify it

Installed the ess dct software Thanks to great customer service and amazing support from ess tuning but unfortunately I am still getting the hard downshifts from 4to3rd most of the time when in manual mode. This time I wanted to do a little more fishing around and noticed when the power button is off it seems to be much smother downshifting especially when mdm mode is turned off and could not replicate the issue. Has anyone tried this who have the same symptoms as me?

You might want to confirm your DCT isn't leaking. You might never notice it's leaking unless you take the cover below the transmission off.

I'm not supercharged, but my DCT has been having some intermittent funky shifting lately. I presently having a small leak coming from the mechatronics cover. I'm getting it fixed next week, so we'll see if that was it or not.

Last time I had the car on a lift, I pulled the transmission cover just to check and found the leak by chance. I would have never noticed the leak without pulling the transmission cover. There were no other symptoms when I checked. I've only got 30k on my car. Talked to a shop which claimed they have fixed the mechatronics leak for 4 other people already. I would advise everyone to pull the transmission cover off from time to time and confirm that the transmission isn't leaking.

Hey thanks for that I will get it checked out. I also have a bank 2 O2 sensor fault so this may also be the cause of its erratic shifting. Process of elimination and a empty wallet.lol

I know 2 people that are running the ESS VT625 with Dinan DCT software.
From what I know, no complaints.
1 of the owners switched from the ESS file to Dinan and said the Dinan shifts smoother then the ESS file

Good to know at this point I have no idea what's going on. I have a o2 sensor bank 2 fault. Having it replaced tomorrow not sure if this is the problem but we will see. I haven't driven the car as much after going with the ess dct tune. I did notice right away the quick engaging going into reverse with zero lag. Shifts feel pretty much as quick and smooth as the Dinan tune.
