Does anybody know this Texas X5M?

Car fax says it was a lemon after 1500 miles. Something about a stabilizer bar.I'm looking at it but can't imagine paying their ask when car fax lists it was a lemon law buy back. What other problems occur with these cars? Clicking front wheels and squeaky brakes?

Seems like a really fair price too me, especially considering the options it has and the mileage. Factory warranty still too.. Do you have a relationship with a dealer? If so, I would call and speak to a service adviser and have them pull the service history by the VIN. The stabilizer bar part seems odd. Our cars do have hydraulic sway bars but that's the only thing I can think of related to that part. Yes, brakes squeal when dirty. Mine don't do it near as bad after I put my aftermarket wheels on and I make sure to clean the calipers and rotors very well every week. I do not have the clicking on mine either.

I followed the link and found a car in New Jersey. Is this the same car?

I would rather cut lemons open, and squeeze them into my open eyeballs before ever purchasing a vehicle that has LEMON on the title. Hell, I've had enough issues with cars that were new, who would want to purchase someone else's headache?! My experience with LEMON cars is that they can never be fixed, no matter how many attempts are made. There will always be problems with that car until it hits the scrap heap.

$82,xxx is not nearly enough of a discount to buy it with a bad title/lemon buy back. Besides the issues with it, when you go to get rid of it, it will be a major hassle and you will take a massive hit.

I agree that the price is too high. FWIW, it is not a lemon title, but does say lemon law buy back on the car fax. Supposedly it spent over 2 weeks at the dealership during the first 2 months of ownership so they were required to buy it back. It was then returned to the manufacturer, "fixed," then sold at auction with a cpo to 100k. Either way it will be difficult to move with lemon on the car fax, price should reflect that. My thought is it would make a cool grocery getter for the wifey, something I might actually want to drive as well. In the mid 60s it might be worth the risk. I wonder what they paid for it at auction.

it clearly says lemon title, not just lemon buyback.
TITLE (Title #:10135342484160254)
LEMON

It's also not a CPO. BMW can't certify a car with less then 15k miles for up to 100k,it would be up to 75k miles. Secondly, they certainly can't fix and certify a car that was already declared a lemon buyback.

The NJ title does not say lemon. Worth taking it over to a bmw dealership if the price comes down a lot? I'd need to dig down on the warranty stuff. "Extended CPO until 2020 or 75,000 miles..."? Isn't BMW CPO until 100k? If it's one of those aftermarket warranties then forget it.

I don't know how you know the NJ title doesn't say lemon? the title was clearly lemon in Texas and it's not going to go away because it was retitled in another state. As far as BMW CPO if the car has less then 15k miles, it's CPO elite which is 5 years 75k miles, if it has over 15k miles, it's regular CPO which is 6 years 100k miles.

The car was def not CPO'd after BMW bought the car back and I'd think it's possible the manufacturer warranty probably isn't even valid any longer. BMW knows the car was a problem, bought it back and probably auctioned it cheap. I would think if they are going to pay to repurchase it then auction it, they would null the warranty. Why would they continue on with the warranty after they already declared it a lemon?

It's so hard to judge a car by the auto check, you need an actual carfax with better info.

I live in NJ and that dealer is one of those dealers notorious for luxury cars that are usually priced cheap. I think they are one of those shady dealers that tack on a lot of excess BS fees as well. Just look at the Yelp reviews.

Anyway, just called BMW NA tomorrow with the Vin and they will tell you if the car has any warranty and if so, what warranty it has. Obviously, to verify the title you will then have to speak to the dealer. The only way you will know the real facts is by doing that. Good Luck!

Yah, they are a sketchy dealership for sure by their reviews, but I'm in no rush to buy. Let's face it, no one in their right mind is going to lay out that kind of cash for a lemon law vehicle. They gave me a copy of the actual title and it doesn't say lemon. I could upload it.

I will call BMW NA about the warranty, what's the number to call?

Oh wow, didn't realize it was an actual lemon law buyback deal. Still curious as to what exactly was wrong with it.

I'd never buy a lemon law buyback car. When I was looking for a 911 GT3, several of them were lemon buybacks because of the engine issues. The cars were perfectly fine, but even being heavily discounted they were just sitting there on the market. And that's for a car that everyone wanted.

I wouldn't have any problem purchasing a buyback, but they have to be dirt cheap because you're going to be married to them until they are worth zilch. Saying a Buyback or Lemon is totally shit is just dumb. You have a lot of people that are asshats and complain until they are blue in the face about something that is usually correct in the first place and it gets returned. They build these things everyday and anything can be fixed. If you're a long term owner and intend to use the full 100K warranty, this may be your ride. IMO, this may be a decent deal if it was a '16, but not a '15.

I have an acquaintance with access to a web site that shows you all cars coming to auction today and most recent sales of any specific make/model/etc. He showed me where this car was sold and for how much. If he finds you what you want at your price, he buys it and charges you $1500.

Anyway now that he knows what I want, when an x5m with my desired specs comes to auction near my price, he'll get it for me. In the meantime I'm haggling with these guys over their lemon.

Are they being negotiable? Or are they acting like they paid top $ and have no room?

They are saying they don't negotiate, "maybe a few hundred dollars." I've played this game a hundred times. Plus, they drove it for 2k miles after they bought it, its a lemon, and now I know what they paid for it. I just found another one with 16k on it listed for 76, so I'll get to work on that one too. Price needs to come down for the lemon.

Within 500 miles from NJ the cheapest I've seen is the one your looking at , a Melbourne red one for 82k at a wholesaler type dealer and there is a member from here urbanextant who had issues with there's and returned it to Bmw of Cape cod who now has that one cpod for like 85k
