"Thunk" sound from rear/trunk area

I'm getting a "thunk" sound after starting off in first in my 6MT. Almost sounds like there is something in the trunk that slide backwards and thunks into the back, but the trunk is empty. Checked under back hide-away area and there's nothing loose. Could this be something more ominous like a rear-end issue?

I had a brrrrp noise when I pulled out of parking lots in first gear, differential oil change fixed it.

Thanks will have the shop check that! Yes it's when pulling out in first gear. A delayed "bump" sound.
