Would you buy?? 2011 e92 M3
Backstory: I've been patiently looking for an e92 M3, preferably 2011+. Coming from a tuned e90 335i.
Found a local 2011 e92 M3 (silverstone metallic) that I checked out and test drove over the weekend. Have budgeted higher than this price, but considering the price and options, am considering it. Would you buy this car, with this mileage and options, for the price? Comp Pkg Tech Pkg Prem Pkg 71k miles New PSS tires Brakes at 30% front /50% back Full service records 3 previous owners.... $30k (will do a full PPI if considering purchasing) Would you purchase if PPI looks good? Anything else to consider? Oil analysis? Thanks! Last edited by osukf09; 10-17-2016 at 09:04 PM.. |

Is this the car?
https://www.truecar.com/used-cars-fo...3/2011-bmw-m3/ Its price is low; suspiciously low for the market, but a clean PPI would mean one thing -- Buy It. To answer your question...No. I wouldn't buy it. Reason: It's missing a pedal which equates to a dealbreaker. For auto lovers, it's a bargain. Also, it looks good. Remember to post pics in thread or see .

Remember WHEN the car was built in 2011 is very important. There are 3 variants. The 2011 model, the 2011.5 model (updated to include combox, bluetooth audio, one-wire ipod integration via usb port, M Button on steering wheel can be programmed to include additional drivers preferences, automatic start/stop, premium package (ZP2) which includes power front seats, convenience package replaces technology package) and the 2011.75 model (also adds BMW Apps). There are no differences between the 2011.75 model and the second to last 2013 E92 to roll off the line in 2013.

This is most likely why it's priced lower:
Accident reported on 01/31/2011. https://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistor...&partner=GAZ_0 Could be a decent amount of savings for you as long as you're Ok with having that accident on the vehicles record.

Thats a beautiful car. It looks to be identical to mine except for DCT and cold weather package. $30K looks like a great deal. Do a full PPI and pull the service records and see what maintenance was done under warranty. I'd get an extended warranty for a year or so just in case.

Not a bad deal if you plan on keeping it forever. SS is definitely one of my favorite colors.

Meh, rear-end collision without airbag deployment very early in its life. Could've been a stupid love-tap at a stoplight or whatever. If the bumper was repaired and repainted well, I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Remember, it's a 6-year-old car: statistically the chances of it having zero accidents or small dings/chips is going down every day. I agree that the price is definitely below average.

Thanks guys - really appreciate the opinions.
I'm particularly focused/concerned on the mileage. I was initially looking for a car w/ < 50k How concerned should I be about 70k miles? Esp at it relates to suspension wear or other wear items. (fwiw, the suspension felt firm and grounded on the test drive) |

Remember, a 2011 car is going to be 6 years old at this point. 70k miles is right around the national average if not slightly under. Finding something under 50k will be harder and drive the price up. Higher mileage is not a problem, generally speaking. Cruising on the highway is not as hard on a car as driving around at low speeds on city streets. Think of it this way: how hard are the car's systems working to go 70mph? Engine speed would be steady and low, transmission isn't running up and down through the gears every minute or two, brakes are hardly getting used, the suspension is not getting slammed by potholes and speed bumps, cooling system is doing very little, etc. Just make sure it has good maintenance records and hasn't been in and out of the dealership for a ton of problems. Any used car purchase has inherent risk, so do what you can to remove or reduce some of those.

Remember, at the end of the day opinions are like rear ends, everybody has one. The real important thing is do you like the car, are you willing to buy it knowing that it's had an accident, and does it make you feel the way you want a newly acquired car to make you feel? If the answer to all of those is in the affirmative buy it, if it doesn't find something else, it's that simple.
Either way good luck! |

I would pass. Too many miles and its been hit. Now it could have been just a light hit and only needed a new bumper but you have no way of knowing that unless you can contact that owner and asked what happend.
