I understand they can scan the key and check software version. However my dealer said they don't recommend updating the ECU software unless there is something "wrong" with the car. I recently bought an 08' with 26K miles and most likely software is not up to date. Dealer said they could flash it, but will not be responsible if something goes wrong due to the update. Any thoughts? :

Nothing is going to go wrong. Most dealers won't do it unless something is actually wrong, otherwise they'll charge you labor (most likely).
