My guess is that it is similar to the M track day: a couple of laps as the driver and a couple as a passenger; switch cars, switch tracks and repeat.

I think the half-day option is the one closer to M-track days. A little expensive, BMW CCA of San Diego has an event in January (sold out) for $225. Might want to hold out for another club event and save ~$200.

Last month, I got an e-mail offering private coaching sessions at either PC East or PC West. The quoted rate was $1,200 for 4 hours. It does not mention vehicles, so I assume that it means using your own.

Just looked at a few of the Groupon reviews: sounds like you share driving "M models" on short tracks.

Probably not much true "track action" but $80 an hour to slam around their cars is not a bad way to spend an afternoon!

These types of things are usually lead-follow and very controlled. You don't get free reign to hoon it. You can drive fast, but it's nowhere near what you can do at a track day.

That being said, if you are curious about how some of the other M cars feel when driven hard, it's not a bad way to kill a few hours.

I just did this today. Got a 20% discount, the total was $134.00. The track is in Thermal Calif.It was a 2 hr drive from the San Gabriel valley. It was a blast, I drove 2 laps each(small track) in a 240i,340i,M3,M5,X5M,X6M. With me and another person.( not a instructor )Then we drive a M4 on a larger track and its timed, again just me and another person. You do 2 warm-up laps and 2 timed laps.We really did 2 extra laps because the timing machine messed-up. My fast time was 37.64sec. which put me in 3rd place with 12 in the class. Then 3 of us get in the M3 while the instructor flies around the track.He literally drove the tires off the car( the tire blew while he was drifting). You are in a car as a passenger or a driver 97% of the time. The only lead and follow was to show us around the track. I know some of you make fun of this but it's a great deal. It's fun and I abuse their cars not mine.

For $140?! That's a deal for that experience

How was the scheduling of the class? Did you call or was it online. Contact BMW, Thermal or ?

I was in nearby La Quinta on Friday . . . the weather was great!

The "small track" I guess is out on the BMW grounds? Is the "larger track" at Thermal or still on BMW?

The final with the instructor was North Palm?

I called the # to set it up. you have 3 months to set-up your day. Small and large track are all on the grounds. Theirs also another area with a wet skid pad but we did not use it. I would guess they have a 5-10 acres lot. The last instructor was Dave something I don't remember, sorry.

Sounds like all of your driving is done on the BMW section.

North Palm is the name of 1 of the 2 tracks at Thermal.

Did you stay over in Palm Springs and get a round of golf in? Definitely the time of year to do so.
