Ouch!
Does anyone know what the part number is for the front bumper cover for a 2007 3.0si Coupe? I checked realoem.com and couldn't find it there, though I've got some hints from pelicanparts.com that it might go 51-11-xxxx.
I'm out of town, and my wife borrowed the car today. I had to tell her I still love her anyway. She really does feel bad May just be a fill and spray, but am interested in the part data. Of course now there's also $s to replace/repair the clear mask, which was a little overpowered. |

oooo.....i feel your pain.... i caught my lip going through a car wash on the wheel retaining rail. it pulled, crazed the paint and took a nice big chunk out of the spoiler. i was able to get mine filled, sprayed, and yes.... re-clear-bra'd. find a good body shop, see what they say and cross your fingers.

It sucks any way you see it. Good thing your car's grey... it would be even more visible if it was another colour.
If I knew something that would happen, I would have liked it to have been me doing the damage. But oh well... I guess the wifey won't be drivin' your car anytime soon, huh? I'm not really concerned with the flesh wound on your car. What's with the blood stain? |

Hey...it looks like my Z4MC! Learning to live with it...but I'll get it fixed one day.
Hey I own a machine carwash and they are not all created equal. Mine will NOT touch your car whatsoever and does a great job. Check out my postings on the subject here; http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthre...=101526&page=2 But I would never use an older conveyor wash and some of the touch types (aka wiper snippers)

Thanks for the commiseration.
Would like to have some kind of smart answer for the blood, like say it was from the employee I had to terminate this Monday before hitting the road on business travel, but Hawkeye's got it right-- bugs. Not warm enough to wash the car last weekend, & now it's warm enough the bugs are coming out. Miss the car while I'm on travel, but am OK with putting the miles on the Hertz's Malibu the company provides. How Hertz makes any money when we keep doing things like renting a car for 4 days for $40 a day and we bring it back with another 1200 miles on it beats me... |

-I believe you, that looked like a serious impact. I just meant that getting them to protect from minor scrapes would be a good idea since they are cheap and you have to paint anyway.

Unless you're active in showing your car, no big deal. A little bit of time spent cleaning up the rough edges and some touch up paint will cover most of the damage. Keeping in mind that 1. This will happen again, and 2. It's in a low visibility area, you can spend a lot of money for short term cosmetics. Save your money and when it gets to the point where you can't live with it any longer have it professionally repaired or replace the cover. In the mean time drive it and enjoy it.

I don't know if it's just me though, but I've found the paint to be shockingly resistant to scratches on 2 occasions. Once I pulled up too far and heard a scraping sound from under the front bumper, and the other time I took a right turn too sharply and heard a loud scrape from the right side sill. No real damage to either part after checking under the car with the flashlight. |

I feel you..... it's really hard to maintain a perfect paint finish. dings, rock chips, scratch bumper its unavoidable. Even if you wrap your car (clear bra) you wont get a scratch but you'll get a dent.

I just did the same thing a couple of days ago on a tiny little street with smooth undefined rounded curbs. The pain is killing me.
