Looks like only the BMW star tire is made in france in 255/35-19, in case anyone else needs this info.

The star is only a stamp in the mold and means BMW approved .
That's about it ...But the star cost more money while the tire comes out the same mold .
Michelin PSS is probably the best street tire on the market . Love mine

Thank you for your reply. Yes I agree with you the star costs more, however, looking closely at the tire specs, there are subtle differences, the star tire is 23.6lbs and the non star 24.4. Think its a mistake on their site or maybe something else?

The differences may or may not be subtle. It's hard to know for sure, but each vehicle manufacturer specs their own recipe for a certain tire, but to what extent probably isn't known or figured out easily by us (maybe TireRack can tell you, maybe not?).

Seeing as the PSS is a performance tire, you don't really have to worry about one company favoring more snow/cold performance over dry/wet like the article above, but there are still tradeoffs to be had in terms of handling, traction, and ride comfort that could be different between a Porsche-, Ferrari-, or BMW-marked PSS tire. Looking quickly at TireRack and the 275/35R18 PSS, there is TPC Spec and normal spec. The TPC spec is OE fitment for Cadillacs, and is 1 lb heavier with 1.5/32 less tread depth based on the spec data, and there could be some compound differences as well.

I'm ok with the non oem specific tire, I just don't want one designed for another oem, and I'd prefer to have the tires come from the same factory when possible.

Here's the sku table if anyone needs for the PSS https://goo.gl/n9x7qi

Shows limited availability of stock ZCP sizes....so they are phasing them out to launch the 4S tire. Anybody wanting the PSS specifically should get them now!

Michelin says stickier AND longer treadlife than the PSS! If that's true, it'll be a helluva tire. Too bad they don't have 275/35/18 yet, as I need a new set when winter ends...

Checking the Tire Rack spec chart, some sizes of BMW spec PSS have narrower tread width than the regular PSS.
