Garage update

Finally had a bit of time to clean up the majority of junk that was still laying around since our house reconstruction post-flood here in Houston. Still obviously a work in progress but a massive upgrade from what it looked like over last few months !

Put the pics here as my setup is no where near the showcase mega garages on dedicated threads but do love my dual car lift - works like a charm and 7 ft overhead clearance in max up position! Main reason is we can elevate our cars should another mega-flood happen but of course its pretty useful for working on car etc.

The second photo is the cabinets where I keep all my car detailing gear - came with a cool door wrap of carbon fiber weave in a grey that is close to the car!!

Cheers, C.

PS: please ignore all the junk piled on the work surface - again ongoing project!

EDIT - added a pic of car in garage as these photos seem to make it seem smaller than it actually is!

EDIT #2 - added couple pics of my DIY IPE door (our upper and lower decks out of view are made of IPE and ties in nicely)!

EDIT #3 - FINAL! Couple of pics of garage door (use the Liftmaster 8500 - awesome!) and just sanded and oiled motorcycle entrance

Nice, especially the lift. Is the bottom open (i.e., provides access to underside of vehicle)?

From the photos, looks like it is solid (due to placement of stuff on top, and reflection in one of the photos. Is there some sort of removable plate?

There are four removable (two on each side) stainless steel plates between the tire tracks that allow full access to the underside of each vehicle when loaded - I also have jacks that are movable along the length when open to allow you to remove/exchange all wheels etc. There are a whole bunch of other kit you can get for this BendPak system - really like it.

I'm jealous. That is all. My POS garage only does one thing well and that's protect my M from the weather..

Looks great I wouldn't mind washing my car and hanging in that garage shooting the sh1t over some brews.. just add a flat screen for sports and some bar stools!

Hear that Have thought of it (TV etc) but with Houston summers I suspect the humidity would destroy electronics - which means putting in AC but have flood vents etc. etc. But beers and mucking with cars and gear AOK, I'm all in!

How did you hang the hood up? And did you happen to weigh it?

Used two hooks tied into wall frame, solid - didn't weigh it but it is indeed very light - possibly not as light as the exotic tuning carbon fiber hood I have installed - in either case TBH it is a minimal difference i.e. there are a multitude of mods you can make that would have a far more impactful effect on performance than the fairly meager difference in weight between the aluminum and a CF hood - I got it purely based on cosmetics and very happy I did

I was asking more because I have a 35ish lb hood from my track car I need to put somewhere and hanging it up would be nice. Might try to do that this weekend. Did you weigh the new hood?
My race lite hood for my track car weighed in at just under 14lbs.

Oh yea and what part of h-town are you in? I'm a fellow Houstonian who was transplated in Seattle 12 years ago!!

Did not actually weigh it but lifting it up felt like closer to 20 lbs but just guessing. Living on edge of Meyerland (Chimney Rock and S. Braeswood) - from Ireland originally but based in US now for 25 years (lot of assignments overseas in between).

Not sure how long ago you left but you might not recognize the place - insane growth in last 20 years and apparently not slowing down anytime soon! Seattle great place - sister has a house up there.

Is that Race Deck flooring? What is your opinion of it? Thinking about putting it in my shop.

Thanks, and it looks great!

No this is the original Swisstrax - essentially the very same thing (may be wrong) but believe RaceTrack came later. Really amazing stuff and remarkably resilient to any chemical you can throw at it - not to mention it can take a real beating - very impressed and super easy to pick up, clean, replace or reconfigure etc. Also no slippage at all when driving across it. Highly recommended.

Nice! Our garage floor is an upcoming project. What tile system did you use? is the lip on the garage door threshold part of the floor system or a separate product?

As mentioned above it is the SwissTrax system - I think RaceTrack came out later and appears to be identical which is odd (patent wise) but never used RaceTrack so can't comment on it. The lip is part of the flooring system and snap hooks on extremely securely.
