M performance exhaust tip - missing..
So I went to wash the car today, and there it is...
A plain boring old exhaust pipe... minus one CF MPE tip...... I guess it worked it's way off, after a 5 mile back tracking drive I gave up.. Has anyone recently lost and had replaced under warranty as a bad fit??? I've read a few members had have there's replaced under warranty. I'll be calling my SA in the morning.. see what they say. |

I can't imagine your dealer being able to warranty something that's just completely missing as bmw usually requires the service department to send back the failed part for inspection. If you do have a good relationship with your SA and dealer they might do a one time goodwill type gesture and basically gift you another one. If not you might be out of luck

It should be covered, it has happened to people before. Some flaw. Have the dealer retight all the screws holding down the tips. Maybe add some loctite.

If you had your dealer install it then I would ask them to cover the replacement, I made them pay for 2 replacement CF tips after losing them in about a week.

There is a retaining screw that holds the tip in place. If the dealer did not install/tighten properly, the tip can fall off.

What BMW needs to do, is fix the whole system they feel they can charge $5k for. Grrr.
Upset because I do actually want one, just not with all the issues it has, especially for the price of entry. |

In all seriousness though, I wonder if they use some sort of thread locker on that retaining screw--I'd imagine it's subjected to some pretty harsh vibrations. |
