DIY 20+hp free mod

I recently learned of a free mod anyone can do to gain what feels like a massive amount of power. Grab a gallon of distilled water and open your hood. Open up your Intercooler reservoir and top off to the top of the yellow float valve as specified by BMW. Thats it folks!!!
I recently discovered that my IC water was really low and my car was throwing a code. I can imagine the intake air was higher than normal because there was no water running through the IC. Car feels much faster.

I imagine others are driving around with the same problem. Your welcome!!

I heard filling your gas tank when it's empty is a great mod too.

OP, you had a legit recommendation, stand by it. I didn't know that was something to check, and I'm a pretty tech-savvy owner. Am guessing at least half of the owners on the forum also didn't know.

Cheers

Its right behind the Intercooler. See arrow. You have to be 8 ft tall to see into it but its there.

Just got the car back from the dealers, no IC leak but the level was a little low. The F80 cooling system is a closed loop so there should not be any areas for coolant to escape. Most likely low from the factory or air bubble released causing low levels.

So what exactly should we be putting in there? Distilled Water? or Mixture of both Distilled and Coolant?

If your just topping off, Distilled water is ok. If its empty, then get coolant from BMW.

Your welcome, on a sad note though, the reason I was low on Coolant in the IC Reservoir was I have a leak in the IC itself. Car is at the dealers for approx 2 weeks.
