Drivetrain malfunction with jb4

Hey guys yesterday I was out in Mexico! ? And did some Money runs from a dig..

mods on the car is JB4 KNN drop in filters MPE and Downpipes

I was on map 2 with about 3.5 gallons of E85 after I ripped it from a dig I won the race

and then after I stopped at the next light my car threw a code! "drivetrain malfunction" car felt like it was bogging out

I've had jb4 installed for 2.5 months not and has not let me down I turned off the car let it sit for a 5 mins turned it back on and it was fine again?

Anything to be worried about is this common? It was also

It was also 90 Degrees yesterday another thing that made me think the car was just tired of being pushed in the heat

Misfire faults are from plugs, maybe fuel pump unable to keep up with the power levels and E85, etc.

These are most likely from either fuel trims too high, causing the DME to run off the Superknock Fuel Table, which is tuned extremely rich. Or your plugs need to be re-gapped/replaced. Or a combination of both.

What is your FOL set at?

Is this a ZCP or non-ZCP? The non-ZCP cannot tolerate much more than 3 or so gallons of E85 mixed with E10 pump fuel. The ZCP is better in that it can can go as high as E40 or so with an FOL of 80-ish.

Also, what you experienced was the DME shutting off fuel to the offending cylinders (misfires) to protect the engine. It didn't hurt anything and is cleared after a restart.

Non ZCP FOL is set at 70 should I put it back to 60?

Also thanks for the helpful reply

When did you start running this E85 mix? And no, you may want to try running a slightly higher FOL (72).

Just hold off on all that until we get you squared away on this E85 mix you're running.

I don't run it every day because we simply don't have it on pump here lol I only run it when I head out for some runs

You have to give the DME a few pulls to get fuel trims situated. And the JB4 needs it as well to know how to manipulate the fuel pressure sensor.

I did 4 highway pulls on the way down it was running fine until the last launch lol what fuel is recommended for map 7 tho?

Map 7 is probably too much boost for the amount of ethanol you're running, especially for the non-ZCP tune. It causes fuel trims to go too high which, like stated above, causes the DME to run on the Superknock Fuel Table (which runs in the low 10:1 AFR range). It's a protection feature of the DME. Running this rich causes misfires, especially when running ethanol mixtures.

Try upping FOL to 72/73 and see what it does.

Were you datalogging?
