Cleaning the Dinan CF Intake

Been a while - time to check and clean the Dinan intake air filter. What a PITA... 18 bolts out just to get to the filter then 18 back in. Does not include the 5 bolts to remove the license plate.

Dinan... seriously... no better idea than to install the filter behind the bumper?

Fixed pics..

Yep, photos are visible now. And yep, PITA. How do you like the Dinan intake otherwise? I do like the Arma and Gruppe intakes but don't really want to spend that amount of cash if it's not really going to give me a good price to performance.

I reached out to Eventuri to ask if they would make one for our cars but they said they wouldn't...I know the 1M is limited but they could've still made it for our cars..there's 6000+ reasons to.

I have used several different CAI in the past... K&N, Gruppe...my fav is the AFE stage 1 on my E46 M3. takes 5 mins to remove cover and clean.

Dinan CF looks great but not worth the PITA of cleaning. It is essentially the stock box + K&N drop in filter + additional augmented forced air from left bumper intake.

Id be worried about increased risk of water ingestion having the intake that low.

Kind of off topic, but what do you use to get the bumper clips off from each side? Tried to take my bumper off a few weeks ago and got stuck on the last 2 clips. I read you need to shove something in there but the odds of me scratching the paint are very high haha.

Are there any issues with removing/separating the headlight washer nozzles from the bumper?

I should have taken a pic. Very easy... push in the small blue clips and the tubes disconnect. Will make sense when you see it.
