BMW Top Cleaner and Protectant
Was at the BMW dealer and inquired about the products
I was surprised to learn they were reasonably priced, compared to RaggTop Now for my question The protectant comes in a 250ml bottle, and the instructions say dilute it 12:1 for use, and then use a sponge to apply it. That would give you a 3 litre jug of liquid This seems like a great amount of liquid to use, since Raggtop comes in a 500ml bottle I believe and I can get at least two uses from it. Now, has anyone used this product, and can they tell me how much liquid would it take to cover a Z4 soft top? The cleaner comes in a 500ml spray bottle, similar to RaggTop Thanks in advance for any advice accent |

I've never used the BMW product. I just picked up something recently to do my top (name is escaping me right now), but never thought to check out the BMW products. Would be interested in hearing how it goes for you........

I used the cleaner, probably only one quarter of the spray bottle. It worked fine, the top looked really clean when I washed it off
It smells quite strong when I was putting it on. I did dilute the protectant 12:1 which meant I put 50ml with 550 mls of water. This was plenty to do the top, probably enough to do a second coat. I have not put water on the top yet since I want to put the second coat on it. It was ok using a sponge to apply it but next time I will use a spray bottle I think |

Just to finish this; I put two coats of the protectant on my top.
When i sprayed it, most places beaded just like with Raggtop and 303 that I have used before. Some places the water seemed to sheet, but when I took a cloth and wiped it, the top was completely dry I will now use the BMW product. I found the cleaner as good if not better than Raggtop, and the protectant is great too. I still cannot believe that the BMW product is so much cheaper than Raggtop now |

Thanks - I'll give that a try as well!
BMW wheel cleaner is pretty darn good too. It works the same as Sonax wheel cleaner - spray it on clear and it turns a bright purple as it reacts with the brake dust on the wheel. Spray it off before it dries in and just give the wheel a final cleaning with soap and water to remove any remaining cleaner and non brake dust related dirt that is still on the wheel.

I paid $18.99 for the protectant and $21.95 for the cleaner.
I think the RaggTop product is over $60 now and the 303 product is almost the same and very hard to find now |

It's on Amazon. BMW soft-top repellent concentrate. An 8 oz bottle is $28, but if diluted 12:1, that makes 3 quarts or 2.84 liters.

I have been using the BMW cleaner and protectant since new - the fabric is holding up well (black).
