Brake DIY

Hello 2008 M3 Sedan here, I did changed front and rear pads with rotors. I found out that my brake fluid overflowed once I pushed the pistons back. I did open the brake reservoir. Is there gonna be any damage brake fluid contamination? I noticed too front pads were rubbing the calipers. Is this normal? It was a bitch to change the rear passenger back sensor! Twas hiding that I have to remove panel! Other than that Twas a smooth DIY and thanks to this forum.

the brake fluid probably isn't a big deal. after you bed the brakes in, double check the fluid to make sure you have enough (it may have been over-filled to begin with). when i do my brakes, i don't get any fluid spewing out.

3rd. Spray it down with brake parts cleaner and also make sure your fluid level is correct. Next time remove some fluid from the reservoir with an old turkey baster and this won't happen. If your pads were really low and fluid was topped off at a recent service, that would explain why you overflowed when putting in new pads. Yes it's normal for new pads to touch the rotors. Congrats on the DIY!

As the others have stated, the brake fluid will be fine, as will your paint if you cleaned it up immediately, but pad/rotor swaps are always a great time to flush your brake fluid anyways!

How often do you have all the wheels off the ground anyways? Wait.. don't answer that.
