2018 Drivers Assist Package Question

For 2018 if you do not have the drivers assist package do you still get the little cubby to the left of the steering wheel?

Vibrating steering wheels freak me out since I always drive OVER the lines whenever possible, last place you want to think theres a wheel/tire problem! Can you turn that off? Speed limit info seems useful though...

All the systems are independent... so, yea. You can turn off any single one.

Speed limit is super useful, especially when you have it in the HUD. One of my top favorite features.

Yes. $500 for this is worth it to me...if my mom ever drives the thing then she can turn lane assist on...

Well old pilots crash the planes because they ignore or discount the gauges. Vibrating steering wheel might help in that instance...not for me though as it scares the shit out of me (hence the poop icon) and I'll crash into a bridge abutment.

Speed limit info on the dash, didn't think it was for me...until got a vehicle with it...find it useful since that trucks metallic windshield completely blocks any radar detectors...nice way of staying somewhat digital in a forced analog situation.

If they only kept the adaptive leds separate I wouldn't need all the other crap. But there's programming to investigate behind them, so oh well! Butt dyno not sensitive enough to feel the difference with 38 pounds of extra equipment.

Not shitting on your choice, I'm disappointed that I'll no longer have a cubby.

My previous F80 had it, my Golf R has it... This one wont.

I have all those features on my Golf R sans the HUD. The vibration thing is kinda cool and will actually make subtle steering corrections up to a certain point. What sucks is that I fight it because driving in Austin is crazy. I basically have to drive like an asshole.

The collision thing can be interesting as well, especially since it tries to react at the same time I do. I'm not sure if that's good on me, or bad on the system. I've never cut it real close, though.

Got it! Me too. I like the cubby and will miss it if I pull the trigger. Just sickly cheaper to get ZCP than upgrade a 15. I can tell how BMW has really limited build choice for the 18s compared to prior years. Just saving costs and getting the line switched over to the next thing.

And isn't part of the fun of owning a BMW the assumption by everyone else that you will drive like an asshole? Embrace it!

Enough has changed to warrant the switch back for me.

I regretted leaving and when the time came to choose, despite all the other cars I was interested, the F80 was always in my thoughts.

Well your driving like an asshole comment reminded me of this. And welcome back, I think they really have everything sorted out now...other than the dang cubby...who knew that's why the diff didn't like to play nice in sharp turns...

No instructions needed.

I'd drive a rental the same. It's not so much that I drive to screw others, but that I like to be in control of where I am on the road. If I don't like my current position, I'll move to where I want to be.

+1 you're in control, I drive the same way. I'd rather be the cause of my screwup....not some CRV (they've been on my nerves lately). The whole autonomous vehicle thing just freaks me out. That will be time when I might actually move to a remote cabin in the woods with just my thoughts...someone has to program those Teslas to crash the car with you in it into a tree rather than hit the pack of drunk college kids crossing the road...why couldn't you just keep the cubby BMW? No one had to get hurt...

$500 for drivers assist buttons....orrrrrr $750 for the cubby back?! I might actually consider that....if it were an option. Better yet...a button that says "missiles" INSIDE the cubby!

The vibration sometimes feels too subtle. Some of the highways up here in NorCal are so bad (I'm looking at you 880) that I sometimes can't easily make out the wheel vibrations.

Other than that I like it and it's less annoying than other cars' beeping alerts.
