Stop Sale on 2018 F80 M3

My car made it all the way to VPC in NYC. I called today to get a status update and was informed that there is a "Stop Sale" on my car. Anyone else experience this now or in the past? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

My car is a 2018 M3 with exec pack and is Manual.

Oh wow. Which ship was it on? Mine's coming at the end of the month. Maybe they want to start swapping out those carbon fiber drive shafts early?

Yeah I guess at the end of the day BMW has to deliver a car that meets factory spec.

My car is on a boat and will hit port on Tuesday. I was told by my contact at the VPC that the port will be empty and my car would likely leave the same day barring anything like what you're going through.

My last F80 took over two weeks to make it to the dealership from port.

just like me I see u also had a f80 before. My previous build was Yaas I decided to change it up this time and go with atlantis

I thought about going indie, but I liked Yas too much.

I think Yas will end up being "one of those" colors some years from now.

As far as I know they check visually to ensure that it has emissions devices in installed along with the proper markings/labels. I'm not really sure about what they do exactly.


A quick search shows that they do smog checks and other emissions tests.

Got some info from a buddy of mine. He says the "stop sale" is in relation to the differential issue that affected a small # of cars that bypassed QC. To catch the affected cars they are doing a "stop sale" to inspect each car to verify that it does not have the affected part before releasing it.

On a related note on the Shipper website: it says the following

On VIR it says 09/09/207 and on VIN decoder website it says 09/08/2017
