Sonoma/Napa fires
Hey All,
Not a big poster but I live up in the North Bay and it is a scene of total devastation. The news cycle around the country seems to have forgotten us. Over 1000 homes destroyed in Santa Rosa(1000s more in surrounding towns), over 6000 people displaced due to home loss or evacuation just from Santa Rosa. 3 days in we still have new areas being evacuated and over 12 separate uncontrolled fires. Northern Santa Rosa suburbs, the largest city in Sonoma County has been reduced to ash, along with multiple other surrounding towns. Please if anybody has connections or time, get the word out around the country that Northern California needs help. I will not be back to posting anytime soon as I need to be there for family friends and neighbors. I just wanted to get the word out in as many ways as I could. Prayers to all and hold your loved ones close! |

It truly is awful. I too find the news coverage incredibly lacking!
I'm here in the North Bay with you. The news coverage issue is strange... |

Condolences from South Bay
Feel for you guys and for everybody affected by this tragedy, entire cities and lives gone...
Here in the South Bay im about 100 miles away from the disaster but you can see it and feel it. The sky has a red apocalyptic colour, I can't seen the mountains from the smoke and the air smells of fire.. Can't imagine how hard it is for the ones that are much closer or the ones that have been affected. |

For whatever it's worth...it's all over the news here in South Carolina. Good luck out there and be safe.

Yah it was the lead story on the NBC national news last night, though I'm sure for people living in that area it may feel like nobody is paying attention/helping? I couldn't imagine what those people are going through.

Not that cars matter at all compared to people's lives ... but with so many homes lost I wonder how many performance cars were burned up, perhaps even some rare older vehicles.

I live in Massachusetts and they have touched on the fires in the news briefly a couple times but that is it. I'm surprised to hear it is that bad. I agree with the thought of more coverage is needed. Also updates with how Houston is doing, Florida and everywhere that is still dealing with hurricane damage.

I saw photos on the news this week and I can't imagine having to deal with losing your home to a fire, not to mention entire neighborhoods have just disappeared. Prayers go out to all of those affected by this tragedy, and I hope they get the help they need and quickly.

I live about 20-30 miles from the fires and it's crazy, although as of today it's 27% contained but the winds are predicted to blow high again this evening so that could shift things. Many areas near me are still on "ready evacuation" status meaning have a bag of important items ready if the time comes to go. The air quality as well is not good right now. We have bags ready for my family should it spread near to us and believe me my M3 will be hauling as much of those bags I can fit in it! God Speed everyone and don't take life for granted....

Numbers as of this evening....
90k displaced, 32 dead, 200+ missing, 5700 structures destroyed, 24k currently without power. Numbers will go up when fires are out and clean up work begin. Winds are picking up next two days so dangerous conditions. Fire fighters as far as Australia have been sent to assist. Now considered deadliest fire in California history. |

Awful to watch! We get hurricanes but with warning days in advance... Have friends in Santa Rosa who are OK for now. Good luck to everyone in NorCal!

I have friends that are in the area and was afraid of loosing their homes. It's sad even at the Bay there was smoke in the air constantly reminding you what is happening. On one of mornings I was driving to work I saw a convoy of firetrucks from Ventura County, gave them a couple of honks from the horn to cheer them on.

So you're saying we have a lot big fires like what happened? I don't see the logic here. We rebuild and life goes on like how we usually do in California . There are a lot of people who have cars that only who use it for transportation, give them clean running vehicles while the smaller group of enthusiasts enjoy real cars... I mean Cali has Monterey Car Week, we got very well known racetracks and we have a crap load of shops... it's not that hard to see the logic of giving a certain group alternatice fueled cars, that means more gas for my S65.
