Something worn
All
2008 e93 new Michelin tires wheels true and road forced just last week wheel shimmy for first half mile in morning assuming tires just need to be worked on cold morning a but when I pull in my garage and hit bump sheering wheel turns either way. Thinking it can be worn struts cause wheel turn. I also heard that if struts are bad it can amplify the road forces and in turn resonate to the wheel. Any thoughts?? No sounds in front end or bouncing all stiff but does feel like something is fatigued when hitting bridge transitions just doesn't feel as tight as it should 72k on car |

suspension components only last 40k miles before degradation. These cars are made so you get alot of feedback, if just 1 tiny thing is out if tune you will feel it through the steering wheel. start checking all rubber bushings. check tires for any uneven wear. how does your rotors look?

Rotors look good no feedback when braking at high speed. new tires all roadforced on hunter. Michelin pilot ps2. Main feedback in wheel when pull in garage and hit 1 inch lip and wheel moves left or right. Just doesn't feel tight. Just had aligned last week all new tires replaced had issue prior as well. Could it be front struts? Main question it disappears after car is warmed up and a new car won't do it at all regardless of cold tires

LOL. "Degradation" at 40k would be really early. It will all come down to how the car is driven, where it is driven, and a bit of chance.

Even though I drive my m3 almost every day and it's garaged I seem to always get a highway vibration for the first 5 miles then it goes away. It's just a slight flat spot formed when sitting. Nothing to worry about. If it was a constant vibration that never went away I would have them balanced and road forced again. It's also normal to hit a bump and have the wheel move slightly. There is little weight on the front wheels at that moment and therefore much easier for the wheel to turn slightly. I think you may just have noticed it now that you are looking for something after feeling the vibration. If your shocks are not visibly leaking oil and it is not bouncy I wouldn't look much more into a shock issue.

Thanks eat sleep just hard to believe a machine like that could be so sensitive you would think the opposite. I mean my first car had bad everything and bald tires with half air pressure and still never shook or drove funny other then the clunking lol

How long have you had the car? Did it just start doing the steering turn on the driveway bump?
Maybe go slower on the driveway bump and it won't turn as hard. Summer tires are harder compound that aren't designed to drive in cold temperatures. If you have a winter wheel set, slap them on and see if your issues go away. |
