The Safe Spot
The quest for the perfect parking spot is similar to picking the correct urinal, you should know when you did it right. Today, I arrived at a familiar parking lot with intent to complete errands. This particular lot is tricky, there are a lot of vehicles I can only assume are owned by people that don't care about door dings. Occasionally though, there is something special.
Standard procedure is to disregard distance to destination as a factor. The best spot is the furthest away from someone that may try to destroy your car. I get that, and have been that person many times. Today was different though because it presented the better option: park next to someone that may love their car more than you love your own. I judge based on cleanliness, fair market value, likelihood of kids with reckless door swinging and rarity. When you see a cobra, replica or not, you should always assume they will not be dinging your door. The safe spot, at least on the driver's side, was clear for me. |

The only safe spot on a parking is where I can see my car continuously...

Love the Cobras! My dream car since...forever, has been a '65 Shelby Daytona coupe (replica of course). Get a few more things put in place and there will be one next to the E90! As a side note, yours is looking mighty clean.
100% yes. If we take the Bimmer to dinner, I tell the hostess where we are going to be sitting |

There are 2 easy ways to tell if a Cobra is real or a replica. The first is to look at the gauges in the dashboard. Replicas generally have more modern (and smaller) tachs and speedos. The second is body construction. The originals are made of aluminum. Replicas are fiberglass.
That being said, the OP did one more thing right. He parked on the right side of the car. Every parked car has a driver. Many of them will not have passengers. Moreover, passengers tend to be far more careful opening doors, less out of concern for our cars than out of concern for the owner of the car in which they are passengers. |
