Brand new GTS available to me for $114k - should I offer less?

Dealer has offered me a brand new GTS for $114K plus tax. Curious what everyone here thinks I should offer below that ?

You must have a really good sense of humour to even entertain offering below this price... This is an M4 GTS?? These were selling at 140-150. I don't see them giving you anything below that price. But I suppose you can always try... Good luck

Um, I disagree.

For example, there's a M4 GTS that has been sitting on my dealer's showroom floor for like a year now.

I'm sure they'd take a lower price just to get rid of it.

Doesn't hurt to offer less, if they don't take it no harm done. Personally I'd try to get it under $110k. I'm sure it'll be no problem with winter coming up. The holidays is literally the best time to purchase a vehicle. I'm still surprised that used one listed for $104k hasn't sold yet.

If the dealer is out there calling people / offering $20k below msrp then I'm sure they still have a bit more wiggle room.

Go in there and show them how many very slightly used (<1,000 miles) GTSs are for sale ~$105k. My gut is that you can get it around $110k.

Tell them the CS will also be coming out and that their 2 year old 2016 GTS with no back seats will be an even harder sale.

Agree. Big unknown is the price of the CS...
If the CS is above $110,000, it will be a tough sale, even with back seats. It is not going a limited version and they will be making well over 3,000 (close to 1/3 of total M4 production for that period.
At $90,000 the CS would be hurting the GTS a lot more...

I think you should try at 110k. Remember it is new so your warranty will start now for the next 4 years. I was recently in Germany and it is very hard to find M4 GTS's in Europe and to be able to buy a new one at this price when you know a regular M4 with Comp. package and same option is north of $85k not to mention CS will be even more than that. Suggest to negotiate a bit but go for it.
All the ones that are used at 104k are also out there because of the White exterior where people want to go for grey and black more. Also, Northeast are in winter and know if they don't sell now, they will have to wait until Spring or Summer.

It is also what type of options, they offer on CS. GTS comes with all the goodies that you can possibly have, whereas I suspect CS will offer options which raise the price.

OP is in the USA. Other markets are meaningless. Just saying.

Okay, makes sense. The point I was trying to get across is that we are lucky that there a number of them available here still, whereas in other markets, either they are over priced or not available.

Agree. Other markets are not totally meaningless when the same car is selling for twice as much in those markets. Do not forget the gts was released in Europe almost a year earlier and current asking price is $200,000+ (Used).
You should not expect a huge premium at resale (if any a all) but you should not ever loose any money on that car if purchased at $110,000 to 115,000.
But, please do not let it sit in a garage. Too much fun!

If there weren't SO many awesome cars for sale (new and used) perhaps the GTS would keep it's own in terms of price. But, buyers now have so many options to choose from in the $100k-$130k price range... and not all of them are looking to maximize track performance.

Any update OP?

Agreed, this thing is kind of old news. It is a good time to be an enthusiast, so many options available and many more coming.

Yeah, i mean, just look at R&T's PCOTY.

At so many different price levels:

- A friggin $75k Camaro is faster than a GT3!!! both manuals! <---- hence why GT cars almost HAVE to go FI in the future just to compete. Of course the experiences are much different but the GTS slots in right between them price wise

- Alfa Romeo / LC500 / AMG GT/C/R/Black Series - most all around the GTS price point

- TTRS, Civic R (even tho it's ugly) - great packages that offer good track capabilities and daily driving

And those are just the New cars out today. ALthough, the hype will pass with these just like GTS.

Chiming in, but isn't offering a lower price part of negotiating 101? Only thing OP really needs to do is to suggest and commit to a serious offer if his dealer bites, like $110k OTD and I'll buy it today.

There's never harm in offering a lower price, and the first price a dealer offers will rarely be the one that gives themselves the shorter end of the stick. Stick to your guns OP!

Before I could get back to them, they lowered it down to 109K, I am just going to offer 105K and I think they will take it. I really want a brand new car on the showroom floor vs. a used one. Even if a used one could be had for less. Warranty and Maint start at purchase so that is all set for 4 years !!

buy the used one for 90k, use the money you saved for an extended warranty.
that or offer them 100k even for the new one.

That part is not always true, I know for a fact that BMW of Encinita use M cars as show cars at local car shows, racking up mileage with warranty in effect and then turn around selling cars to customers as new. It would be wise for OP to check the warranty status on the car instead of just assuming it.

This is simple, a car is worth what someone is willing to pay. Thats sounds cheapp though, go in with a modest offer and if you really want it whats 5k?
