Fuel Pump Malfunction
Car was running fine, then while on accelerating on an onramp hit a bump and the car goes into limp mode. Pulled over and the car will no longer start. Fires up then feels like its choking for gas.
I had a similar issue in the past, but a simple restart did away with the problem for a long while. All the warnings pop up and trying to start the car in the morning, the fuel pump warning is still there. Car is at the shop and they initially say the fuel pump needs to be replaced, but they are looking into it further today. Is there a definitive way to know if it's the fuel pump specifically rather than say the EKP module and some sensors that need replacing? |

If the shop is equipped for the job then they'll have ISTA software or similar that can read the fuel pressure and EKP bus status. They can then tell if the pump is running or not, and if the EKP module is receiving signal from the DME. It should only take a few minutes to determine the culprit.
