BMW Special Order Process

Found this on the BMW PKoD website. May be helpful to some on here.

Thanks to Ibiza for pointing the way.

Quote:
In order to determine the feasibility of a Special Order paint, upholstery, or trim, please follow these simple steps:

All Special Order inquiries/requests must be e-mailed directly to your Regional Distribution Manager (please include the production number or all specifications of the order in question).
The Regional Distribution Manager then sends the request to the National Production Supply Coordinator to research the feasibility with the Factory. Once the feasibility is confirmed, a response will be sent back to the Regional Distribution Office with the price and required lead time for the request.

Once a customer decides that they want to proceed with the Special Order, the dealer must fill out the “Special Order Request Form” found below and send it to the Regional Distribution Manager.

The Regional Distribution Manager will then send the request to the VIP Ordering Specialist, where the Special Order option codes will be added to the order. Once these special codes are added to the order, the vehicle will be locked in 102 Status and no further modifications can be made.

And for those who are using a design consultant..

BMW Individual Program

BMW of North America, LLC ("BMW NA") is pleased to announce the launch of the BMW Individual Program, a unique partnership with Designworks USA ("DW"), where customers with complex design requests are eligible to receive special consultation from DW.

BMW customers can choose from packages or a-la-carte. The vehicles available for Individual services are across the portfolio and based on Factory location and participation in the Individual Program.

Designworks Services
  • Up to 10 hours of complementary consultation per customer
  • Original consultation at DW or virtually
  • Tour of DW as physical visit
  • One set of Renderings (two external, one internal)

Customer Validation & Handling Process

Customers will have clear expectations of the consultation process, including cost and delivery of their unique design.
  • All Special Order Request Forms (found below) must be submitted to Regional Distribution Managers, who then forward the requests to the VIP Ordering Specialist.
  • BMW NA manages customer leads, determines customers' eligibility to participate in the program, and assigns requests to DW.
  • DW contacts each customer directly and provides up to 10 hours of complementary consultation. Incremental consultation services beyond 10 hours are based on ordering specification and subject to approval by BMW NA.
  • Customers submit a purchase deposit to receive services beyond the allotted 10 hours to BMW NA.
  • VIP Ordering Specialist at BMW NA approves quote submitted by DW.
  • Factory initiates Individual vehicle building process.

@Thescout13 might as well post the Special Order sheet from the PKoD. I took too much heat over on Bimmerfest for posting the Sales Playbook, so all yours!

This thread is pretty good, but not as good as that ///Individual Guy's thread.

Anyway, he's a regional Individual rep from some region. That's my point.

Unless this is a second try, Designworks "consulting" was cancelled more than a year ago...

Maybe the PKoD website is out of date. No surprising for BMW, but possible.

The PKoD link is not all that current, probably some info is on an other network. The 150 Production schedule is for January 2014. However, the new M5 info is current. Was hoping M3 CS info would be posted.
