Any one can kindly offer me a chance to hear Akrapovic exhaust in person?

Hello everyone,

I am looking at Akrapovic exhaust for my E92M3. I have seen many videos on internet but didn`t have a chance to sit in a car with akra fitted.

Pretty much all videos were taken under heavy/full throttle which means engine quickly revs through full rpm band and videos were mostly taken from behind the car. This sound is significantly different from what I will hear inside the car under cruise condition. Other videos usually have other mods done (x-pipe etc.) so I can`t tell where is the increased volume/drone from.

I am very scary of drone. I can`t really judge this from internet videos. The stock exhaust is not drone at all to me, in any driving situations. I want to hear slip-on or evo in person and compare with stock exhaust to see if I can accept the increased bassy tone.

Can anyone in Sydney or Melbourne kindly offer me a chance to hear it in person? I would like to invite you for a coffee

Contact Julian at Harrop Engineering. Their race car has one of these fitted and occasionally they have the stock X pipe on the car for various reasons. They also sell these as does Andrew at Southern BM
Your wallet will drone if you purchase one of these though. It will also have a very hollow sound. The slip on by itself is very tame and not much louder than stock with a more raspy than bass sound. Another quiet system that sounds quite good is the Corsa. It's a more traditional V8 sound Exhaust systems are very subjective and it's best to hear one as a passenger or better still as the driver and keep in mind just because it has an outrageous price doesn't mean you will like it.

Better yet talk to Dave ^^ about his systems. Plenty of guys in Perth run them and they sound great!!

Personally I don't like the akra, it drones and sounds tinny (they were great on the E46 M3 but not so much on V8)

I would look at m3world HFC xpipe and stock box to start with for best sound + performance gains, then look into rear mufflers to suit your required taste.

I think you will find almost all aftermarket exhausts will drone a little around 2000rpm

Mpe and Corsa are opposites. Mpe is high pitch and Corsa low? Both are pretty good for drone, corsa much louder at normal speeds

Thanks Doctor.Y for organising meet to hear Akra system. And particular thanks to the owner ‘Al...’ for letting us hear your machine. After hearing the Akra in person, as expected, seems like you get what you pay for. Sounds orgasmic. Slight drone at cold start only but no noticeable drone during driving.

Anyone got MPE or Corsa in Sydney, pls let me know. Wish to hear these two before I pull trigger....again

I heard the akrapovic with matt schnell x pipe and matt schnell downpipes and it sounded pretty good with no drone..
